Position Summary

The Assistant Program Director provides leadership to staff in collaboration with the Program Director. The Assistant Director will assist the director with staff supervision, training and hiring of staff. The APD is responsible for helping to ensure all program operations are conducted in an ethical and professional manner. A commitment to the RHD values should be demonstrated as job duties are performed.

Essential Duties and Functions

Leadership, Staff Management and Organizational Strategy

Supervise Site Supervisors, Program Specialists, Medical Staff and Direct Support Professionals to include daily operations, supervision practices, implementation of consumer plans and documentation.

In collaboration with the Fiscal Administrator or Office Manager, provide oversight to the recruitment process to include scheduling candidates for and participating in interviews. Oversee the hiring, and orientation of new staff as necessary.

Support management team with documentation around supervision to include progressive discipline as warranted.

Quality Assurance

Reviews site documentation in preparation for audits both internal and external.

Finance, Development and other Operations

Supports the Unit Director in adhering to license, funder and budget requirements.

Provide support and intervention for individuals and staff during a crisis.

Create an environment that empowers individuals through the development of skills and coordination of resources and supportive services.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in social work, psychology, human services or related field from an accredited institution, preferred.

At least 5 years' work experience in mental health/IDD direct service and 2 years of supervisory experience.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Applications.

Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle.

Subject to employment screenings, including FBI clearance, if applicable.

Working Conditions

Office setting. Also visits program sites, as needed.

Physical Requirements

Required to sit, stand and move about in the performance of their duties.

Required to use a computer monitor and keyboard to review electronic documents and files, enter data and create reports.

Use of standard office equipment, such as copiers and the telephone.

Lifting Requirements

Medium: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
