The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center consists of more than 250 faculty across various institutions. The Department delivers anesthesia services to an estimated 155,000 procedural cases annually, and our staff run 14 pain clinics and eight ICUs. The Department aims to develop a diverse group of residents and fellows into respected consultants and board-certified anesthesiologists.POSITION SUMMARY

The position of Department Administrator is for an independent, proactive, and creative individual with experience in modern management within an academic or entrepreneurial setting. The role involves leading and developing the administrative team, recruiting and retaining faculty and staff, managing department services, networking within the organization, supervising finances, overseeing space management, and promoting the department nationally and internationally.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.Six (6) years of directly related experience.Three (3) years in a supervisory/management capacity.Applicants without the stated preferred degree, but with significant additional related experience may be considered.PREFERRED:Master's degree in business or healthcare administration.Eight (8) years directly related experience.At least four (4) years in a supervisory management capacity.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Provides strategic leadership, oversight and management over all aspects of the day-to-day administration of the department.Supports and partners with the Chief Operating Officer for Academic Affairs on School of Medicine and Health System goals.Participates in strategic planning to ensure that department and UTSW goals are aligned.Manages administrative matters related to program development.Advises department and institution on fiscal matters.Oversees departmental human resource activities.Creates and develops business plans and models.Directs the administration of the research enterprise within the department.Oversees the administrative component of the promotion and tenure and faculty appointment process.Develops programs and standards of performance to continually measure and evaluate safety, service and quality improvement.May direct and manage the department's billing and revenue cycle operations.Provides administrative direction to the educational programs of the department.Represents the Chair in his absence on administrative and fiscal matters.Establishes and maintains working relationships with organizational peers.Performs other duties as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS
