Position Summary:Under the general direction of the Director of Study Abroad, this position is responsible for administering faculty-led programs which includes working with faculty to develop program proposals and budgets in accordance with University policies and procedures, and to advise students who are interested in participating. This position also manages the Student International Travel Registry.Required Qualifications:Bachelors Degree.Three years of experience working in a study abroad office.Experience studying, working, or living abroad.Budget management experience.Program planning and management experience.Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, university offices,and overseas institutions.Ability to use initiative, independent judgment, tact, and diplomacy.Ability to organize and prioritize multiple complex tasks and projectsin a fast-paced environment, including excellent follow-up and attentionto detail.Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills with demonstratedease working with all levels of professionals in an organization.Cross-cultural communication skills.Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.Preferred Qualifications:Masters degree in a relevant field.One year of experience working with faculty-led programs.Experience leading or co-leading a faculty-led program.Terra Dotta software experience.Experience working with campus constituencies in developing study abroad programs.Experience working with budgets and vendors.Knowledge of health and safety considerations outside the U.S. for students abroad.Outreach and promotion experience.Knowledge of a foreign language.Duties & Responsibilities:Program Development:Manages portfolio of customized faculty-led programs in multiple countries.Works with faculty to develop and prepare program proposals and budgets according to University policies and procedures.Works closely with overseas partners or program providers to research and assist faculty in planning site logistics.Reviews country specific health and safety considerations in the host country and advise faculty leaders.

Faculty Support:Organizes faculty workshops about creating and leading programs abroad.Advises and assists faculty in developing program proposals and budgets, recruitment/outreach plans, student application review process, pre-departure orientation, on-site logistics, and financial management of programs following CMU Policies.Reviews new program proposals and coordinate approval process.Plans pre-departure orientation for faculty leaders.

Program Budget Management:Determines final program fee with faculty leaders.Manages individual accounts for each program; approve invoices to be paid, monitor faculty credit card charges, assist faculty in determining allowable cash advances, and ensure that accounts are balanced.Reviews and approve program expenses reconciliations submitted by faculty.

Student Advising and Outreach:Meets with students interested in participating in a faculty-led program; answer student inquiries.Assists students with questions about the application and process and funding study abroad; maintain contact with students throughout the process.Develops and manages faculty-led pre-departure orientation presentations and information.Manages student registration and billing for faculty-led programs.Participates in marketing and promotion of study abroad.Participates in annual Study Abroad Fair; assists with preparation and promotion.

Administrative:Acts as the resource for faculty leaders to ensure that the Forum on Education Abroad Standards of Good Practice are followed in creating study programs and leading students abroad.Coordinates online application process using Terra Dotta software.Serves as a resource for faculty and staff regarding faculty-led international programs policies and procedures.Responds to health and safety emergencies abroad as needed and in coordination with the Director of Study Abroad.Prepares and updates information about developing and leading a faculty-led program on the website, in Terra Dotta, and in print.Contributes to development of faculty-led policies and procedures.Ensures that program evaluations are sent to students.Maintains annual statistics for faculty-led programs.Stays abreast of industry trends and best practices; participate in conferences, workshops, and webinars as needed.

Student International Travel Registry:Works with students who will travel abroad for academic learning opportunities other than to participate in a study abroad program (i.e. conference, research, workshop, etc.).Ensures that the purpose for international travel is approved by faculty.Ensures that students complete the Student International Travel Registry forms.Ensures that students are enrolled in CMUs group international health insurance.

Other:Works with OGE Terra Dotta team leader to coordinate the application process, to troubleshoot issues and implement software updates.Contributes to OGE activities to promote campus internationalization.May supervise staff or student assistants.Performs other duties as assigned.Supervision Exercised:None.Employee Group:

About the Department:The Office of Global Engagement works with students interested in studying or interning abroad and with faculty interested in leading short-term students groups. It is an exciting and busy office that offers both in-person and online appointments to provide advising and support to the campus community we serve. We offer the annual Study Abroad Fair, Study Abroad Week, regular workshops for students to guide them about programs and funding sources, and also provide workshops and orientations for faculty who are interested in leading student groups abroad.About CMU:Central Michigan University has a more than 125-year legacy of preparing students to become leaders and changemakers in their communities and in their personal and professional lives.
