Location: Lexington, KentuckyThe Association of Air Pollution Control Agencies (AAPCA) is a national, non-profit, consensus-driven organization focused on assisting state and local air quality agencies and personnel with implementation and technical issues associated with the federal Clean Air Act. AAPCA is affiliated with The Council of State Governments (CSG). This position has flexibility to report to and work from the Lexington, KY office or to work-from-home (i.e. remote).JOB SUMMARY

The Policy & Membership Specialist, under the direction of the AAPCA Executive Director, provides day-to-day management and support of key AAPCA programs including membership coordination and communication, policy research, and administration.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead support efforts for AAPCA's state and local members, including serving as a point-of-contact for Association and committee activities.Develop, research, and write newsletters, surveys, reports, and other products that are highly relevant to policy deliberations and easily understood by the public, media, and policymakers.Facilitate AAPCA technical committee activities, including organizing and executing conference calls, webinars, and meetings.Provide administrative and office support to the AAPCA Executive Director and to the Association and its membership in furtherance of AAPCA programming, mission, and goals.Conduct daily membership relations including monitoring/answering/forwarding telephone and email inquiries.Serve as staff lead for certain Association functions and projects as well as several technical/policy committees.Work closely with Association leadership and state and local environmental staff to develop agendas, priorities, and policy information products for assigned Association functions and committees.Prepare concise and accurate written responses to requests for information from Association members.Manage AAPCA's website, online databases, social media presence and other electronic communications/tools.Update and maintain phone and email lists and contact information for AAPCA's leadership and membership.Research and understand the current landscape of Clean Air Act and associated regulations, guidance, initiatives, and/or issues, including major air quality regulations, as well as state and federal legislation.Assist in writing and editing Association policy materials such as newsletters, infographics, issue briefs, articles, and reports and the distribution of such deliverables, including the development of AAPCA's annual report.Serve as liaison with federal counterparts for assigned policy areas or committees.Supervise interns or graduate fellows as assigned.Provide general administrative support to the AAPCA Executive Director and Association.Provide logistic support for membership meetings, Board meetings, webinars, and specialty conferences or training sessions.Assist with planning Association meetings, such as coordinating the registration process for meetings and events.Provide support related to Association finances and the management of invoices.Work with partners at The Council of State Governments in managing day-to-day administrative and financial matters.SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a courteous and professional manner.Experience in public policy research.Knowledge of general state and federal government public policy development processes.Exemplary attention to detail in written products and in project management.Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks in an efficient and accurate manner.Self-motivated, able to take initiative and see complex tasks through to completion.Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external partners.Ability to interact effectively with diverse people in different contexts and foster equity and inclusion through self-awareness, cultural sensitivity, and valuing others.Dedication to public service with an unfailing commitment to act with civility, be nonpartisan in performing CSG duties, and be a responsible steward of member and donor funds.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of four years demonstrated experience in government, non-profit administration, event planning, or grant management. Familiarity or knowledge of Clean Air Act, energy, or environmental policy is highly desired. Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).COMPENSATION INFORMATION

CSG believes that pay equity and pay transparency advance workplace fairness. Compensation will be equitable and based on experience. The salary range for this position, based in Lexington, KY, is $55,000 to $65,000. This salary range is subject to change based on work location and market conditions.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
