The VDC Manager heads the VDC department and is responsible for leading preconstruction, engineering, and field installation of all BIM related project deliverables for the business unit or region.Reports to:

BU: Preconstruction Manager, Operations Manager, or Senior Operations ManagerRegional: Regional Preconstruction Manager or Regional Operations ManagerAdditionally has "dotted line" relationship for coordination and support with:Other VDC ManagersEssential Duties & Responsibilities:Overseeing activities of VDC Coordinators, VDC Engineers, and VDC Project Engineers, and providing performance feedback to Operations Staff and VDC Regional Manager.Visiting job sites as required to troubleshoot BIM issues and resolve problems.Establishing BIM standards for quality and monitoring adherence through expertise and direction provided on job sites, at BIM coordination meetings, etc.Providing expertise to the business unit including information regarding local standards, owner standards, and other requirements.Advising Project Leadership on staffing and related issues during project setup.Conducting workshops and training to apply BIM to both preconstruction and project activities.Developing and maintaining relationships with engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and owner's representatives.Developing a comprehensive working knowledge of contract documents, both 2D, and the related 3D deliverables.Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of ten years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience with progressively more responsible exposure to design, cost, sequence, logistics, and field installations of project components as it relates to BIM. Thorough knowledge of construction BIM tools and applications in cost, scheduling, estimating, and coordination principles. Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite. Utilizes leading-edge technologies such as BIM and LEAN. Demonstrated ability to present technical material. Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills. Should specifically be proficient with BIM based computer applications such as Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, Autodesk Revit.Physical Demands:

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to occasionally climb permanent and temporary stairs, climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally requires passenger use of construction personnel hoists. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job regularly requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk, hear and stand. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
