Job Description - Export Compliance Analyst (STA015390)Organization

H0304 ComplianceDescription

Works under the direction of the Export Control Officer (ECO) and Chief Compliance Officer to ensure the University of Houston's (UH) compliance with federal and state regulations and laws relating to export control and foreign influence prevention.Conducts reviews of university activities for deemed exports, end use and end-user restrictions, trade-related embargoes and sanctions, restricted party screenings, and anti-boycott restrictions to determine recommendations according to federal regulatory requirements and best practices.Works with the ECO to make accurate commodity classification determinations and requests for classification to external parties, including the Department of Commerce and the Department of State.Reviews international shipping request forms, including export control classifications and restricted party screenings.Partners with the ECO and UH's Office of International Student and Scholars to certify, as part of the visa application process, that incoming foreign nationals will not be exposed to controlled technologies without an export license.Reviews international travel requests involving UH-owned equipment or business in order to make recommendations to ensure the safety and security of the faculty, staff, or students and the materials with which they are traveling.Supports the Research Security Program's outreach and training, including preparing materials, management, liaison with other departments, and tracking, as well as website maintenance.Maintains detailed records and the export control record-keeping systems.Performs other job-related duties as required.Qualifications

Bachelors and 1 year experienceEducation: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Education can be considered in lieu of experience.Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Preferred: A minimum of two (2) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.Notes to Applicant
