The Role

We are looking for a data inventory product owner to lead the data inventory function within this innovative enterprise.

This role involves developing and executing a comprehensive data inventory strategy, focusing on implementing sustainable processes and tools for effective data inventory management across the enterprise. There is a significant approach to develop cutting-edge AI solutions, with this position being critical in laying the foundations for these programs to come.

The data inventory function encompasses all types of data, including structured, unstructured, and data shared with third parties. It serves as a strategic foundation for data protection, data retention, and data governance initiatives. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to guide a team in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining the data inventory, ensuring alignment with the technology and operational objectives of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of scalable Data Inventory processes across the enterprise, establishing clear roles and responsibilities for various participants in the data ecosystem.

Execute Data Inventory processes for all types of data, including structured, unstructured, and data shared with third parties.

Ensure that all sensitive, critical, and high-risk data assets are identified, cataloged, and monitored within the Data Inventory, in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms to provide visibility into the status of the Data Inventory, aligning with Enterprise Data & Analytics Governance standards, Data Risk Taxonomy, and Information Security standards.

Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, collaborating with upstream partners to ensure the completeness of inputs to the Data Inventory and with downstream partners to ensure it meets their requirements.

Work closely with stakeholders from both business and data engineering to prioritize quarterly and annual roadmaps that align with business objectives. Manage the backlog, prioritize features and enhancements, and ensure timely delivery of inventory-related initiatives.

Drive resolution of data quality issues related to inputs for the Data Inventory and lead initiatives to enhance required metadata.

Qualifications:

Significant experience

in a relevant field, preferably within the banking or finance industry.

Proficiency in data inventory tools and technologies , with a solid grasp of data cataloguing and classification techniques (e.g., BigID, Alation, Collibra, OvalEdge, ERWIN, BigEye, etc.).

Demonstrated experience

as a product owner or in a similar role, managing enterprise data inventories or comparable assets, with a strong background in Agile methodologies and backlog management.

In-depth knowledge

of data management principles, data governance, and regulatory requirements, particularly concerning sensitive and critical data.

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills , with a focus on ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and security.

Effective communication skills , capable of developing and delivering multi-channel communications that address the unique needs of diverse audiences; skilled in driving consensus and influencing relationships at all organizational levels.

Strong collaboration abilities , building partnerships and working effectively with others to achieve shared objectives.

Ability to balance a strategic perspective

with attention to detail, ensuring both the big picture and finer points are addressed.
