Our sustained investment in research, development, and invention means we’re always ready to solve the toughest challenges alongside our customers.Overview/Scope of Position:This position will lead the Regional Trade Compliance organization by developing trade compliance strategies that ensure that Corning Inc is compliant with US Customs import and export regulations. This person will champion trade compliance initiatives to ensure operational stability with Corning businesses, maximize savings opportunities through duty drawback or applying foreign trade agreements where applicable.Job Responsibilities:Interface across functional, business and regional leadership and act as an integral part of the business teams to ensure the global trade compliance initiatives and strategies are aligned and integrated with business strategies.Develop regional trade compliance strategy, policy and procedures incorporating knowledge of industry, costs, capabilities, and market conditions while ensuring alignment with other strategies such as the business supply chains and commercial strategies, Global Supply Management (GSM) functional strategy, regional GSM strategies, and the global trade compliance strategy.Monitor regulatory changes, customs rulings and court decisions pertaining to those regulations in order to take appropriate action to benefit Corning’s interests.Respond to inquiries from businesses on regulatory impacts & requirements.Develop and lead initiatives to implement better processes, systems and technology for Information & Data Management (SAP GTS, FTA, CTMS) that enable the measurement of processes, KPI's, Customer Service Level and Supply Chain Logistics Costs (duties/taxes).Assure proper risk management strategies are in use to ensure compliance with import/export requirements in a cost-effective manner.Determine most advantageous duty rate or special duty savings program (drawback) to reduce total landed cost.Provide direction to Corning personnel on regulatory matters pertaining to imports and exports of merchandise and equipment.Drive to streamline and optimize customs clearance processes to reduce overall lead-times in cooperation with the businesses.Act as escalation point with businesses and brokers for timely imports and classification of products.Required Education and Experience:Bachelor’s DegreeUS Customs Brokerage License BrokerMinimum 8 years of experience in Trade Compliance or customs experienceMinimum 2 years of Trade Compliance Import/Export supervisory experienceExperience with Mexico & Canadian customsKnowledge in HTS Classification, Export Compliance and Foreign Trade AgreementsExperience in leading organizations within various areas of trade complianceExperience in a business operations roleExperience working in a matrix environment or on a cross-functional teamMinimum 5 years of experience working in SAP GTS (preferred)Location and Travel Requirements:Corning, NY or Charlotte, NCUp to 25% travelThis position does not support immigration sponsorship.The range for this position is $115,726.00 - $159,124.00 assuming full-time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
