POSITION SUMMARY

The Central Iowa Trauma Recovery Center’s mission is to enhance the process of healing and recovery for survivors of trauma and loss through intensive mental health services, advocacy and innovative supports. Our vision is elevation of the standard of care for Iowa’s trauma recovery system through the utilization of evidence based, culturally responsive, and trauma informed practices.

The Assistant Director is responsible for implementing team management and development, and quality control and evaluation of CITRC's programmatic goals, objectives and services. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Assistant Director assists in developing and implementing agency plans and goals, overseeing daily operations, and ensures compliance with regulations. The Assistant Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Executive Management Team to carry out the overall mission to ensure that survivors of violent crime have access to comprehensive mental health, medication management and therapeutic support services as they navigate the journey to heal and recover. As part of the Executive Management Team, the Assistant Director ensures that employees of the organization perform their duties to the highest ethical and culturally sensitive standard possible.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

MANAGEMENT & ADMINISTRATION

Assures that the organization operates according to established organization policies and procedures and in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations.

Adapts policies, procedures and other guidelines to meet the specific needs of CITRC and implements, abides by and enforces all policies to ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and ensures proper, evidence based implementation of the trauma recovery model.

Acts as the Privacy Officer for the organization overseeing all HIPAA requirements.

Along with Executive Director, functions as in-house resource regarding federal, state and local regulations and laws, regarding contracted services, organization policy and procedure, and effective business / management practices.

Work in partnership with the Executive Director to conduct internal monitoring of documentation of programs and services provided, as well as daily operations.

Conducts strategic analysis and planning to enhance organizational mission and vision.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

FINANCIAL, MATERIAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Developing, implementing and monitoring progress toward short- and long-term service strategy and goals.

Assists Executive Director in reviewing the performance of all programs and services delivered by CITRC staff.

Assists the Executive Director and other stakeholders in service delivery related projects.

Participating in the planning and reviewing policies related to service delivery and programmatic strategies.

Managing costs and expenses related to all programs and services delivered for reimbursement.

PUBLIC AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS

In conjunction with the Executive Director, assists with cultivating the public messaging related to CITRC services and supports.

In the absence or via the designation of the Executive Director, may be required to function as the public face of CITRC at speaking or partner engagement events.

May also assist with recruitment and retention efforts.

MISSION, POLICY, AND PLANNING AND GOVERNANCE

Works with the Executive Director to implement the mission, vision, values as well as short and long term goals.

Works with the Executive Director to monitor organizational performance.

Prepares analytical reports on as requested by the Executive Director.

At the behest of the Executive Director, may provide programmatic or operational guidance regarding policies, planning and governance of CITRC.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

CITRC works with survivors of homicide and other violent crimes. All staff are exposed to traumatic material on a consistent basis. This position requires knowledge, awareness and ability to maintain healthy mental and emotional wellbeing and understands the importance of trauma stewardship and self-care.

This is a senior level position with significant operational responsibility.

Handles detailed, complex concepts and problems, balances multiple tasks simultaneously and makes rapid decisions regarding issues.

Plans and meets deadlines, maintains a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of executive management.

Conveys a professional and positive image and attitude regarding CITRC and the not-for-profit sector.

Demonstrates commitment to continued professional growth and development.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/LICENSER/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Counseling, Education or related field, Master's Degree preferred.

Five-plus years of experience in staff development, program administration/delivery, and/or supervision.

Strong business/administrative acumen.

Experience with staff development, program evaluation and outcomes management.

Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills.

Valid Iowa Driver’s License or other proof of Identity.

Proof of applicable Automobile Insurance.

SKILLS OR PROFICIENCIES

Excellent written and verbal skills.

Ability to work with minimal supervision / direction.

Demonstrated Leadership skills and ability.

Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel.

Ability to conduct strategic analysis / planning.

Demonstrated Quality Improvement capability.

Must be able to pass criminal background checks.
