Through wholesale power operations and its retail businesses, Calpine serves customers in 22 states, Canada, and Mexico.Job SummaryThe accounting analyst serves as an experienced employee in the financial reporting and debt accounting area and brings a strong background of reporting and accounting knowledge to provide input and prepare a quality work product with other team members on analyzing and completing tasks in the financial reporting accounting team.The position includes requirements to work collaboratively within the department and with cross-functional teams as part of day-to-day activities. The Financial Reporting team is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of all quarterly and annual accounting reports including consolidated 10Q and 10K documents, quarterly statutory reporting for specific subsidiaries with debt, pension plan/401k audits, and other reporting requirements.Job ResponsibilitiesCreation of quarterly and annual financial reports including SEC based 10Q, 10K documents, statutory annual and quarterly reports, and pension plan and 401k audit reportsCompletion of the tie out of all financial reports issued by the companyPreparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliationsExecute processes and procedures to comply with monthly financial statement close deadlinesPreparation and review of financial reporting schedules related to corporate accounting areasPreparation of debt covenant calculations and supportEnsure the accuracy of all amounts within the reporting documents and completeness of disclosuresPerformance of key controls in the financial reporting areaPerform testing of controls performed by other groups in accordance with internal audit testing methodologyJob RequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting is requiredMinimum of 4 – 6 years of related work experience including reporting specific experienceStrong analytical and computer skills are required, including being proficient with MS OfficeExperience with Peoplesoft and Workiva preferred but not requiredAbility to comprehend process automation and integrationAbility to work in a fast-paced environment, with significant deadlines.Must be able to work longer hours at various times during the year to meet deadlines and job requirements.Additional Calpine InformationEqual Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Females, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities.Calpine is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity and providing reasonable accommodations to applicants with physical and/or mental disabilities.
