HOW A PROJECT MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Accountable for managing 1-4 projects at a time; accountable for administrative tasks and performance management of direct reports
Define, plan, and deliver a given strategic initiative
Ensure project end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit
Direct small to medium-scale projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents and matrixed partners
Accountable for one or more business, operational, and IT deliverables
Manage all aspects of the project and architecture lifecycle and work with matrixed IT partners to oversee all SDLC (software development cycle) phases of a project
Rigorously manage scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed upon time, cost, and quality parameters
Validate financial forecasts and provide on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures
Develop written and verbal communication plans
Serve as a subject matter expert in routinely briefing key stakeholders on different aspects of assigned initiatives
Represent assigned projects in various governance and inter-department forums
Chair regular project meetings and progress reviews with key constituents/stakeholders
Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery schedule
Develop the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts
Create and publish periodic project status reports
Escalate risks and issues from projects to the management team
Propose recommendations and adjustments for improving project management methodologies and processes
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience:
Five (5) years in a Project Manager role successfully delivering various IT and business solutions in an enterprise setting. Three (3) years’ experience performing in a company internal Information Technology environment.
Required Technical Skills:
Microsoft Office Suite
Required Certification:
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity. Solid influencing skills. Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively. Sound business and technical acumen. Experience with stakeholder management. Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure. Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally. Includes strong meeting facilitation skills. Strong presentation skills. Ability to remove barriers and enable teams to complete their objectives. Demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering complex projects. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Exemplary core project management skills including multiple aspects of the PMBOK. Ability to create, update, and maintain a detailed project schedule. Extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management and SDLC methodologies and tools. Proficient in the use of SharePoint, conferencing/collaboration software, project scheduling tools. Familiarity with Smartsheet.
Location:
Hybrid position working between GDIT facility in Falls Church, VA and home office. Travel will be less than 10%.
