Data Platform Product Owner

with expertise in Microsoft Azure technologies to lead and shape the development of our data platforms. You will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering a strategic vision for the data ecosystem, which includes ingestion, storage, data dictionaries, and automation tooling for data science and analytics use cases. This role will work closely with engineering teams, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of a data platform that supports the business’s AI, ML, and BI initiatives.What You’ll Do:Own the Data Platform Vision & Roadmap:

Develop and communicate a clear product strategy for the Azure data platform that aligns with business goals. Balance immediate needs with long-term strategic priorities.Define Backlogs & Prioritisation:

Manage and prioritise a detailed product backlog to ensure focus on delivering the most value. Lead grooming sessions and facilitate refinement discussions with engineering teams.Technical Data Ecosystem Expertise:

Understand the data technology landscape, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure stack (Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Power BI) while also considering the interoperability with Snowflake, Databricks, and other data platforms.Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with data scientists, data engineers, and analysts to identify and address needs, ensuring data solutions are robust, scalable, and cost-efficient.Drive Stakeholder Engagement:

Establish and lead forums such as Data Councils to provide governance and strategic direction. Communicate product vision, priorities, and performance to senior stakeholders.Data Governance & Compliance:

Ensure that all data entering and leaving the platform complies with data quality, governance, and security standards.Track Benefits & ROI:

Articulate the value of the data platform to business stakeholders, tracking benefits and outcomes to demonstrate ROI and value realisation.Enable Self-Service Data Analytics:

Build scalable, self-service reporting and analytics capabilities that empower business users to derive insights independently.Support ML/AI Tooling Development:

Oversee the integration of advanced analytics and machine learning tooling into the platform, enabling use cases for AI and RPA (Robotic Process Automation).Who You Are:Technical Expertise:

In-depth experience with Azure data services (Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Power BI). Familiarity with other platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, or AWS/GCP data services is a plus.Product Management:

Proven track record in a Product Owner or Product Manager role, managing complex data platform products and prioritising work based on feasibility, impact, and strategic alignment.Stakeholder Management:

Ability to build strong relationships and influence decision-making at all levels, including senior business leaders, engineers, and cross-functional teams.Agile Methodology:

Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum and XP methodologies, with experience driving iterative development and leading scrum ceremonies.Strategic & Analytical Thinker:

Able to translate complex technical requirements into business-friendly language and identify opportunities for value realisation.Excellent Communication Skills:

Confident in articulating the product vision, building consensus, and negotiating trade-offs.Preferred Skills:Experience with cloud-native development and testing in a cloud environment.Familiarity with modern DevSecOps practices.Understanding of BI and data visualization principles.
