As part of the Traffic Safety and Engineering Services branch, this unit facilitates the discussion and implementation of the most effective safety improvements along all public roads in Colorado. This unit is also responsible for statistical collection, management, QA/QC, and dissemination of statewide crash information (fatal, injury, and property damage crashes).About the PositionThe Lead Traffic Safety Data Analyst position will serve as the subject matter expert in providing refinement and analysis of various databases to be utilized by the Unit and other Traffic Engineers in the Branch for the purpose of providing crash data analysis to internal/external Engineers. This position requires close attention to data analysis and interpretation for engineering and safety analysis.Major Duties and Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:Serve as primary contact for operations of the crash database system applications;Collaborate with state or local government agencies on projects dedicated to improvement of crash data systems application and data transfer efficiency;Coordinate with CDOT Department of Transportation Development (DTD) on Colorado Roadway Information Systems (CORIS) roadway to ensure data accuracy;Integrate other crash data elements (e.g., global position coordinates, injury data, etc.) from external sources (e.g., excel spreadsheet) into crash data systems application;Generate dashboards, tables, graphs, and charts of summarized crash data for public consumption;Acknowledge and respond to CDOT, other government agency, or public requests for Colorado crash data;Query crash data systems applications or other applicable traffic engineering software to generate crash summaries and listings for dissemination for analysis;Determine best formats for dashboards, tables, graphs, and charts of summarized crash data by category or combination of categories (e.g., year, month, county, city, severity, crash type, impairment, etc.) and post to CDOT website;Serve as a work leader for two lower level analyst positions in unit;Manage consultant contracts, develop scope of work, review invoices;Provide technical assistance on database entry to consultant staff;Provide quality control monitoring of database entry provided by consultants;Other job duties as assigned.Work Environment:Primarily 8:00 am – 5:00 pm work hours, Monday-Friday. Will likely work a hybrid schedule with a combination of in-office (at least 2 days/week) and remote work.
