The Associate Director of Financial Aid – Scholarships, reporting to the Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships, has primary oversight and management responsibility of the scholarship programs (including but not limited to all Distinguished, endowed, athletic, academic/departmental, third-party) and other financial aid duties as assigned. The Associate Director ensures effective service to students, families, and other constituencies with a focus on scholarship matters and works with various offices across campus to develop, define, and market scholarship opportunities for new and continuing students. The position will assist with special projects, research, development, and reporting activities as well as the production of financial aid and scholarships materials and communications. The Associate Director develops, implements, and evaluates scholarship policies and procedures and serves as an active and engaged member of the Financial Aid and Scholarship leadership team.Typical Duties/Job Duties:

Works closely with the director in the overall leadership of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship with specific focus on scholarship programs.Works closely with the Office of Development to ensure endowed scholarships are appropriately spent and donor’s needs are met.Works closely with the Athletics Department to ensure NCAA compliance rules are followed when awarding scholarships.Coordinates the selection of recipients, authorization of disbursements, monitoring and reconciling expenditures, and monitoring recipient’s continued eligibility.Continually monitors all accounts to ensure dollars are awarded appropriately and within budget.Counsels students and their families on scholarship as well as overall financial aid eligibility; assists students in completing applications and acquiring necessary supporting information and documentation; answers questions, and provides information to students, parents, and others; resolves difficult and/or adversarial situations arising with students and/or parents concerning scholarship determinations.Represents the office and university (with focus on scholarships) on and off-campus and participates in professional development activities by attending appropriate conferences and meetings related to assigned duties.Seeks out scholarships for which students may be eligible.Assists with all university audits.Files required reports of all scholarship programs administered by the state, federal, and institutional programs.Provides detailed explanations regarding scholarship management and maintains scholarship records and data.Maintains a comprehensive understanding of state, federal, and institutional regulations as well as all financial aid and university policies and procedures to ensure customers receive accurate, complete, and up-to-date information.Other duties as assigned to the position.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must maintain an in-depth knowledge of state, federal, institutional, and other agency laws and regulations that govern student financial aid programs.Must maintain an extensive working knowledge of Scholarship and Financial Aid policies and business procedures/practices as well as maintain a reasonable understanding of selected policies, procedures, and practices from offices that interact most closely with scholarship programs.Must demonstrate creative thinking and planning abilities, and organizational abilities necessary for administration and oversight of University scholarship accounts.Must have a substantial level of computer literacy and be familiar with database applications, such as Banner.Must have extensive knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Data maintenance capabilities a must.Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Must have strong oral and written communication skills.Must have effective interpersonal, leadership, and consensus-building skills.Must have effective project planning and management skills.Minimum Qualifications:

At least five years of successful professional-level experience in financial aid, scholarships, or other areas of student services and administration in higher education or other related organizations.Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or other related field.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with fund and budget management, supervisory, and administrative responsibility.Demonstrated experience with Banner Financial Aid and Student Modules.Physical Requirements:
