Review charges prior to billing to ensure claims are coded correctly, applying modifiers when necessary and adhering to payer-specific guidelines. Review insurance-specific Epic WQ's to capture accurate payer compliance and secure maximum allowable reimbursement, while identifying any missed charges. Define appropriate procedure and diagnosis codes for existing and new services. Provide information on proper coding guidelines, insurance regulations, medical records, and physician documentation and signature requirements. Advise managers on potential billing problems and initiate plans for resolution. Review and release information to persons and agencies according to regulations on medical records requests. Resolve or clarify codes and diagnoses with conflicting, missing, or unclear information by consulting with providers or practices. Participate in regular coding and claims team meetings. Assist the AR team in follow-up on unpaid or denied claims for LMHS employed physicians, securing maximum reimbursement through enhanced and accurate coding and billing. Duties include reporting, research, customer service inquiries and resolution, as well as training and leading the staff in efficient and productive billing and coding techniques.Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.Experience:
Two years of billing/insurance experience preferred; three years of outpatient coding preferred.Certification:
