Responsibilities

University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds.Position Summary:The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) has daily responsibility for all program activities and treatment services provided on assigned units. The ADON is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient programming, staffing ratios, supervision of patients and staff, budgeting and compliance with hospital and regulatory agency standards. The Assistant Director of Nursing has the added responsibility of facility leadership and decision making in the absence of the Director of Nursing.In addition, consults with the Director of Nursing Officer, staff, physicians, and other members of clinical administration on nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to ensure that patient's needs are met. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department(s) and participates in hospital wide PI initiatives. Responsible for mentoring RNs, LPNs, MHTs and other clinical staff as needed. A degree in Nursing from an accredited school. A Bachelor's Degree is required.Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a psychiatric health-care facility working with this population.Licensure:

Currently licensed to practice by the Florida State Board of Nursing.Working Conditions:

Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
