This role addresses proactive and reactive privacy and data protection compliance matters. The ideal candidate will be adept at advising on data security incidents, handling regulatory investigations, and ensuring compliance with contractual and legal obligations related to security. This position requires a robust privacy and cybersecurity law background, along with exceptional project management and communication skills.Duties and Responsibilities:Provide expert legal advice on privacy and data protection compliance matters.Advise clients on data security incidents, including managing the legal aspects of regulatory investigations.Ensure compliance with state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations.Defend clients in regulatory investigations related to privacy and cybersecurity.Draft and review privacy policies, data protection agreements, and other legal documents.Stay current on evolving data privacy and security laws, regulations, and industry best practices.Collaborate with clients and internal teams to manage and respond to cybersecurity breaches.Develop and implement strategies for proactive data protection and risk management.Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including understandably presenting complex information.Manage a high-volume, fast-paced workload while maintaining attention to detail and prioritizing tasks.Requirements:Minimum of 7+ years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, preferably within a law firm or in-house setting.Proven experience with privacy and security obligations, data breach response, and regulatory investigations.Strong background in handling state, federal, and international data security incident notification requirements.Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and collaborate effectively within a team environment.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction (e.g., Georgia).Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are a plus.Skills:Exceptional project management and organizational skills.Effective and persuasive writing and oral communication skills.Strong awareness of data privacy and security laws and regulations.Ability to learn and understand technology and forensic investigations.Proficiency in interacting with technically skilled individuals and translating technical findings for non-technical audiences.High professional commitment and interpersonal skills necessary for a collaborative team environment.
