Position Summary
The Plant Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving manufacturing operations, which will be achieved through process control and improvement of the existing equipment, as well as installation and commissioning of new equipment at the companys manufacturing plants.
Position Specific Responsibilities
Research, implement and recommend improvements to processes, facilities, utilities and plant operations, as challenges arise, equipment is onboarded and additional manufacturing capabilities are initiated
Lead performance analyses that lead to improved out-of-plant margin
Provide engineering oversight to the facilitys manufacturing equipment and infrastructure (boilers, HVAC, compressed gasses, etc.), including overseeing the maintenance department
Facilitate capital budgeting and feasibility analyses for further investment in manufacturing capabilities
Report on project progress, communicate risks to timelines and budgets, and identify solutions to issues as they arise
Coordinate with quality and operations department managers to identify and implement process improvement initiatives across all aspects of plant operations, incorporating lean and six sigma principles and methodologies where applicable
Review investigations of non-conformities and near misses, perform root cause analyses and implement corrective actions, including training of associates
Manage plant production including scheduling, payroll, production planning, reviewing and creating SOPs, technician hiring, annual reviews, and end of month inventory
Prioritize safety by overseeing Environment, Health, and Safety initiatives that include monthly OSHA training, the site Hazardous Waste program, the OSHA 300 Log, and Kentucky Tier II Reporting
Participate in the site Food Safety Program as a team lead for the Preventative Maintenance, PPE, and Training programs
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
Five (5) years of experience in a plant or manufacturing environment is preferred and three (3) years of experience in production management
Familiarity with plant systems, machinery, and maintenance procedures. Strong technical experience with PLCs, electrical systems, and industrial material movement
Strong proficiency in engineering software (e.g., CAD, CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Working knowledge of AutoCAD or other 2D/3D modeling design applications; Ability to create and modify PFD, P&ID diagrams, isometric drawings, and general arrangement drawings for the facility
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and project execution
Knowledge and application of QEH&S regulatory compliance principles related to chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, including FDA, cGMPs, EPA and OSHA requirement
Excellent grasp of financial forecasting
Ability to motivate, inspire, and positively communicate goals and objectives to team members
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in industrial environments, which may include exposure to noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures
Capability to lift and carry equipment or materials up to 55 pounds as needed
