Summary:

Responsible for the cost effective procurement of raw materials, machined parts, hardware, or non-product items and other goods and services needed to support production schedules. May be involved in selecting suppliers and/or negotiating pricing.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assess requirements for purchases based on the demand in the facility's MRP/ERP system.

Issue purchase orders for goods and services and schedule just-in-time deliveries in accordance with Company policies.

Follow up on incoming shipments to ensure on-time delivery.

Arrange expedited shipping or processing only as approved by site leadership.

Review supplier proposals and quotes to determine compatibility with contractual agreements, and challenge when incompatible.

Review purchase order change requests and approve only if consistent with contract, or escalate if not consistent.

Participate in contract reviews to ensure compliance with all legal, contractual, and Company policies and procedures.

Evaluate, recommend, and/or select suppliers based on technical capability, financial strength, ability to meet delivery expectations, and cost.

Provide status reports for all incoming deliveries to production team members.

Escalate issues related to late deliveries and discuss risk mitigation options with appropriate team members.

Collaborate with suppliers and appropriate team members to resolve issues related to products and services that do not meet the Company's quality expectations.

Support the organization's safety initiatives to ensure a safe environment for all of the facility's employees and guests.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, or experience in lieu of a degree, or a combination of education and experience.

5+ years of experience as an aerospace commodities buyer.

Proficient using Microsoft Office applications and conducting internet research.

Read, write, and speak English fluently.

Communicate effectively with all contacts.

Analyze and interpret data.

Proficient with basic math, including calculating discounts and percentages.

U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR requirement).

Sense of urgency.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and meet frequent short timeline goals and deadlines.
