Orthopaedic Associates is a fast-paced, 12-physician orthopaedic practice with four locations in Evansville and Newburgh, IN, and Henderson, KY. We are currently looking for a DME Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. We are closed on the six major holidays, and employees are eligible for holiday pay and insurance after completing their first 60 days of employment. We also offer a lucrative PTO plan and 401k with a matching component.Hours would be Monday - Friday between 7:15am - 4:45pm, with some flexibility in the start and end times.The DME Specialist will handle and dispense all durable medical equipment in the clinic. The Specialist will work under the providers and take orders that come from them. The main duty of the DME Specialist is to make sure that all of the appropriate equipment is readily available for the patients and fitted appropriately when needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Fit and adjust all durable medical equipment after it is prescribed by the physician.Verify patient’s insurance and benefits plan coverage to obtain DME authorization.Provide patient instructions for properly using and caring for the DME.Liaison between Progressive Health and Orthopaedic Associates, coordinating with the Physical Therapists on Custom Orthotic Splints and DME.Relay phone messages from the patient to the provider and return patient’s calls.Assist with minor procedures including splinting, casting, and removing staples and sutures.Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with company policies and procedures.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or GED certificate required; Associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, Certified Orthotic Fitter, or Certified Athletic Trainer preferred. Candidates need to have 1,000 hours of orthotic fitting experience if they only have a High School degree and 500 hours if they have a healthcare degree from an accredited college/university. Extra training would be necessary if the candidate doesn’t have previous hours of experience.Proficient with computers.Strong interpersonal communication skills with a pleasant and cheerful attitude.Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
