The Wellness Coordinator assists the Wellness Director in the management and administration of the Wellness department with the primary scope being program planning, development, delivery, assessment, and improvement.Some of the exciting tasks you will do as a Wellness Coordinator include but are not limited to:Assists the Wellness Director in smooth and effective development, management, delivery, analysis, and reporting of current and new Wellness Programs to increase participation, retention, and revenue goals in alignment with the mission of the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington.Assists the Wellness Director in directly recruiting, interviewing (auditioning when appropriate), hiring, orienting, scheduling, supervising, motivating, training/developing, evaluating, and disciplining all Wellness staff.Assists the Wellness Director in analyzing, coordinating, and establishing Group Fitness schedule based on current and new fitness industry standards, guidelines, and trends.Coordinates and hosts certification/continuing education workshops in addition to providing information to all Wellness Staff regarding ongoing development opportunities.Attends and sets up appropriate community events to promote the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington by participating in promotion and recruitment of participants for all Branch and Association programs through class demonstrations, open houses, introductory lessons, etc.Qualifications and Skills:Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Wellness related field preferred.Minimum three years’ experience in personal training and group exercise instruction.Knowledgeable in exercise physiology, exercise science, health/fitness/exercise testing, risk stratification and pathophysiology, exercise prescription/programming, nutrition and weight management, human behavior, safety, injury prevention, emergency response, and clinical/medical considerations for general and special populations.Knowledgeable in safe and effective use of all fitness equipment.NCCA-Accredited Certification in Personal Training.NCCA-Accredited Certification in Group Exercise.Working Conditions:Must be able to bend, sit, stand, or pick up at least 50 pounds.May require on-call, early morning, late evening, and weekend work.May require travel throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia Metro Area.We offer the following benefits:Compensation for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
