Position Description

The

Purchasing Specialist

is a contributing member of the Regional Purchasing Team. You will be assigned multiple R.S. Hughes branch locations to manage inventory levels, buy and confirm PO's daily, and ensure proper OP/OQ levels are set. This role is expected to adhere to all company policies and safety protocols.

Key Competencies Required to be Successful as a Purchasing Specialist

Process weekly buys and confirmations for the RSH branches you are assigned to.Send Inside Sales Manager a copy of all PO's issued daily.Update OP/OQ's daily and regularly review product groups to make changes.Communicate to the local branch any OP/OQ's moving to 0/0.Communicate with the Inside Sales Manager on OP/OQ changes that are made through the admin module.Regular communication with the Inside Sales Manager must take place to ensure an understanding and familiarity with stocked items at the division.Review and act on the backorder report on a weekly basis.Other job duties as assigned.

Education/Certification/Licenses

High school Diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree preferred) and 2-5 years experience with purchasing/ inventory management in a wholesale product distributor with large/ broad inventory base (25,000+ SKU).

Skills That Will Make You Successful

Analytical mindset.Proven ability to understand and connect inventory buys and management to increasing gross profit and mitigating loss/ excess inventory levels.Proficient with purchasing software.Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors of Business Administration (preferred), High School (required)Experience:

2 - 5 years: Experience with purchasing/ inventory management in a wholesale product distributor with large/ broad inventory base (25,000+ SKU). (required)
