Plans, lays out and inspects the work of a group of fully competent building maintenance workers and/or equivalent workers engaged in the maintenance and repair of buildings, wharves, paved areas and other related structures, on a full-time basis and perform other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK

:The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Experience and Training:

1.

SEVEN (7) years

of work experience in performing a variety of building maintenance repair work

of which THREE (3) years shall have been as a fully competent (journey level) worker.

2.

ONE (1) year

of supervisory work experience which involved

supervising the work of other fully competent (journey level) workers

performing a variety of building maintenance and repair work.

Substitutions Allowed:

Relevant substitutions as listed in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.

Driver's License:

Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. The immediate vacancy has this requirement.

Shift Work:

The immediate vacancy requires that applicants be available to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check

:In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the harbor must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the TWIC clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within seven years from the date of appointment. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding seven years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility. However, upon hire, the employee will be reimbursed provided he/she submits the TWIC receipt to his/her supervisor.
