Knox College invites applications for the full time, 12-month position of Assistant Director of Student Financial Services. As the successful candidate, you will provide a full range of financial aid and student account counseling services for current and prospective students and their families; analyze and verify financial aid applications; award financial aid based on federal, state, and institutional policies; and participate in outreach activities both on- and off-campus. You will also play a key role in utilizing new technologies and leading initiatives to help us improve the delivery of financial aid and related services.

Essential Functions:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Award applicants with federal, state, and institutional awards in accordance with student eligibility and institutional policy.

Verify financial aid applications using federal tax transcripts, verification forms, etc.

Determine eligibility for Parent PLUS loans.

Identify, determine, and approve special circumstances warranting professional judgment modifications.

Review enrollment after add/drop period to determine student aid eligibility.

Review and process student aid adjustment requests such as part-time adjustments, additional loan requests, housing status changes, etc.

Work with students regarding their student accounts and payment plans.

Review reports to ensure compliance with federal regulations such as over awards, Pell LEU issues, loan limit issues, CFLAGS, etc.

Award financial aid to study abroad students based on revised cost of attendance information; and determine eligibility for alternative loans.

Maintain current knowledge of federal/state regulations and institutional policy.

Attend financial aid workshops, training sessions, and conferences.

Assist with development and maintenance of financial aid policy and procedures manual.

Coordinate with other offices on campus such as Business Office, Registrar, Admissions, etc.

Other duties as assigned by Assistant Vice President for Student Financial Services.

Participate in financial aid outreach such as:

Admissions Open Houses and recruitment events.

High school financial aid nights.

Requirements

Required:

Bachelor's degree.

Three to five years of related experience in a financial aid office or equivalent experience in a higher education setting.

Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and adapt to a changing environment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Preferred:

Experience with PowerFAIDS.

Experience in working in a paperless financial aid office.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and public speaking abilities; and talent for developing relationships with multiple constituencies.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to organize and prioritize work, manage complex tasks, and complete multiple projects on time while working independently and having the resourcefulness, flexibility, and initiative to adapt to constant change.

Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.

Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
