Description:The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services essential for building our boats. This role requires expertise in maritime industry standards, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage complex supplier relationships. The Senior Buyer will play a crucial role in ensuring that all procured items meet the stringent quality and safety requirements of the shipyard.Requirements:1. Sourcing and Procurement:

Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers of materials and equipment.Stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and availability of critical supplies.Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve cost-effective sourcing without compromising on quality.2. Supplier Management:

Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers in the maritime industry.

Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to ensure favorable terms for the shipyard.

Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance with maritime standards.

3. Cost Management:

Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in the procurement process.

Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing and value for money.

4. Compliance and Risk Management:

Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements, including maritime standards and certifications.

Assess and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain, including the evaluation of suppliers' adherence to safety and quality standards.

5. Team Leadership and Development:

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers/procurement staff.

Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

6. Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings.

Analyze procurement data to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Certification in Purchasing (e.g., CPM, CPSM) is a plus.

Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the shipbuilding industry, including materials, equipment, and regulatory requirements highly preferred.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term procurement strategies aligned with shipyard goals.

Decision Making: Skilled in making informed decisions based on data and industry analysis.

Relationship Management: Capable of building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous in managing contracts, pricing, and procurement processes.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in the maritime or shipbuilding industry.
