POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum age of 21
Have or able to complete Lifeguard certification and lifeguard instructor certification
Team player with personal commitment to YMCA Mission, Philosophy & Character Development Values
People centered, service oriented
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Previous lifeguard and/or swim instructor experience preferred
Able to complete Certified Pool Operator certification
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
Maintain all required certifications
Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising aquatic staff including lifeguards, swim instructors, First Aid/CPR instructors
Oversee development and delivery of quality aquatics programs including swim lessons and Lifeguarding
Assist in creating lifeguard staff and/or swim lesson staff schedules
Assist the Regional Aquatics Director in planning and conducting monthly in-services
Assist the Regional Aquatics Director in conducting regular lifeguard audits and pool emergency drills
Assist in pool maintenance, safety, and cleanliness
Assist in training staff
Maintain pool log sheets and other log sheets as required by the YMCA of Greater Louisville
Keep inventory of pool supplies and notify Regional Aquatics Director when items need to be ordered
Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required by the Regional Aquatics Director
Assist in running community trainings such as CPR/AED and babysitting
Assist with lifeguard and swim instructor coverage as needed
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to pass lifeguard certification course
Must be able to remain alert
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals
Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision
Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue
Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations
Work in a wet/humid environment and come into contact with chlorine.
Exposure to indoor or outdoor elements
Ability to lift 25 pounds

SALARY RANGE:
$16.00/hr
