The Senior Protein Buyer is responsible for procuring the Protein category of Food Service products at the appropriate quality, best price, and within an acceptable time frame. The Buyer - Produce is responsible for all issues pertaining to inventory within their category.Family owned & operated food service distributor in Elizabeth, NJ servicing the Tri-State area for over 40 Years is seeking a Senior Protein Buyer.Five Days Working Onsite in Office.105K Plus Bonus And BenefitsEssential Duties & Responsibilities:Procure all items within the Protein category of Food Service products.Negotiate agreements with suppliers to attain acceptable quality, best price, and timely deliveries for the Company.Understand and follow the corporation's policies and guidelines regarding the ethical conduct of purchasing activities.Prepare a monthly report by vendor of purchasing activity including: price deviations, quality problems, on-time deliveries, late deliveries, promotions, and sales velocity.Maintain contact with all markets and vendors from which the Company procures goods or services through personal contact, professional associations, and trade publications.Prepare vendor purchase orders, enter orders into the system, send to vendor/broker, and confirm date of delivery and price.Maintain vendor purchase orders and quotation files.Issue and monitor Company quotation requests for all new material to be purchased.Prepare an annual budget and plans to support the Company with purchasing services.Negotiate major purchase contracts which are of duration greater than twelve months.Establish and direct a cost reduction program aimed at lowering overall purchased goods costs.Build and maintain good business vendor relationships, and seek out new or alternative vendors as required.Establish and maintain raw material inventory and periodically check quantities to ensure accuracy.Resolve order and billing discrepancies in coordination with accounting and vendors, and respond to inquiries on any product/produce received.Process returned purchase items that are not acceptable or do not meet specifications.Communicate with management concerning new products, and forecasts for new and existing products.Initiate and distribute change notices for purchased items such as changes in specifications, part numbers, and sources.Communicate with shipping/receiving regarding incoming and outgoing shipments daily.Communicate with vendor the need for promoting or returning slow-moving inventory.Communicate with management current market information.Perform other duties as assigned by management.Competencies:Oral Communication SkillsWritten Communication SkillsProfessionalismCustomer ServiceComputer LiteracyMath AptitudeNegotiationsVendor NegotiationsPurchasing - ProduceOrganizationTime ManagementOutside Sales SellingBenefits:PTO - Vacation, Personal and Sick DaysHealth - Medical, Dental and Vision401K
