Job SummaryThe Assistant Director, Data Systems & Reporting oversees the management and optimization of the university's SQL Server-based data warehouse. This role includes leading a team, ensuring data integrity and compliance, and optimizing key reporting tools like Cognos, Tableau, and SSRS. policies.Job DescriptionTypical duties may include but are not limited to:Oversees and optimizes the university's SQL Server-based data warehouse, ensuring efficient data management, team supervision, and operational effectiveness.Establishes and enforces data governance policies to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance, including regular audits and vulnerability assessments.Develops and implements master data management strategies, coordinating with departments to meet their data needs and optimize data use.Manages and optimizes reporting tools (e.g., Cognos, Tableau, Workday Reports, SSRS), ensuring efficient utilization and maintenance.Manages vendor relationships, ensuring issues are resolved per service level agreements.Collaborates with the Director of Enterprise Applications and other managers to align projects with university goals and strategic direction.Generates performance reports and insights to support strategic decision-making and campus-wide data initiatives.Supervises and evaluates the team, assigns tasks, sets performance objectives, and fosters a collaborative work environment.Manages project plans, balancing priorities and implementing risk mitigation and contingency strategies.Oversees application and data security, ensuring compliance with information security protocols and representing the department in business continuity planning.Collaborates with departments to assess technology needs and improve operational efficiency.Trains and develops staff, supervising performance, assigning tasks, and providing resources for professional growth.Assists the Director with staffing decisions, including hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.Enforces system processes to maintain compliance with data privacy regulations.Other Duties:Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Additional Job DescriptionRequired Qualifications:This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.Professional full-time experience in Information Technology, Project Management, or a closely related field.Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook).Experience with project leadership using standard project management methodologies and project life cycle phases.Experience with data integration and workflow automation.Experience with various reporting software platforms.Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.Preferred Qualifications:Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Information Technology.Certified Data Vault 2.0 Practitioner.Relevant experience in a higher education environment.Two or more years supervisory or management experience, including development of training plans and goals, hiring/termination and other staffing decisions, coaching and training employees, resolving employee and end user conflicts, coordinating and prioritizing activities.Experience with relational database design, especially using Oracle or SQL Server.Experience with the Boomi integration platform.Experience with Workday Reporting.Experience writing moderately complex queries in SQL.Experience supporting or working with Ellucian Banner and other software typically used to deliver services in a higher education environment.Experience with technologies used in integrating electronic information systems including EDI, XML, JMS, and others.Project Management experience, including management of project schedules, cost, scope, communications, and integration.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Knowledge and understanding of management principles, practices, and standards,
