The
Plant Manager
is responsible for managing two or more first line production supervisors in the safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective lean manufacturing environment of a large sized plant. They ensure a safe, productive, and efficient working environment while striving for continuous improvements in order to meet company objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Head up all production, safety and quality efforts, direct supervisory personnel in these areas
Coordinate production, distribution, and warehousing
Develop and institute plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and personnel
Review production costs and product quality; modify production and inventory control programs for a profitable plant operation
Direct preparation of production, and labor/ cost records
Prepare, recommend budgets
Maintain positive working relationship with sales and customer service management
Review plant performance; recommend opportunities for sales growth, cost savings
Coordinate safety, quality, and training activities
Directly manage supervisors and/or production managers
Responsible for overall performance of plant
Appraise plant performance
Address complaints; resolve labor, production issues
Performs other duties as assigned.

Environment
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
Noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasionally required to sit.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
Alternatively, previous industry experience can be taken into consideration
5 years experience in a dynamic production environment.
Supervisory experience required.
Knowledge of industrial packaging.
Demonstrated supervisory, organizational, interpersonal, computer, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
Basic understanding of OSHA, DOT, labor, and other federal regulations.
Understanding of basic machine operation principles.
Must also have the ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a team.
Knowledge of equipment design and capabilities
Understanding of underlying cost issues
Ability to develop, analyze and maintain budgets
Understanding of quality standards and their importance
Demonstrated leadership ability
Superior time management
Excellent listening skills; ability to provide positive and corrective feedback
Employee relations/ conflict resolution
Teaching skills; ability to help others learn quickly and efficiently
Crisis management; great emotional control
