Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire an Assistant Director for TRIO Student Support Services.Responsible for coordinating supplementary academic support programs for SSS program participants and leads a team-based proactive approach to intrusive interventions to aid in student success and retention. Collaborates with faculty and academic departments for tutor training, supplemental instruction, and other university-related academic support partnerships. Coordinates with the undergraduate colleges on the academic advising and course registration of all SSS students and manages the Retention program for students on academic probation. Communicates with the Office of Retention on specific student concerns supporting retention initiatives and co-teaches a freshmen course for academic success.Responsible for the implementation, oversight, and reporting of federal requirements program. Also serves as an academic coach to an assigned cohort of SSS students.Funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the development plan, implementation, management, and evaluation of programs that support student recruitment, retention, and assessment strategies, including but not limited to: community and campus outreach, new SSS Student Orientation, ISN, and programming and events. Coordinate and administer assessments to identify participants.Provide individualized coaching sessions for assigned students from SSS; this includes supplemental academic advising, career and graduate school planning, financial literacy, and FAFSA completion, academic study skills support, student tracking, intervention and monitoring, guidance and personal counseling, and referrals to appropriate university and community resources to help students attain their life and educational goals.Assess student needs, monitor and record student progress through the completion of Individual Success plans, and collaborate with the Program Coordinator for SSS to develop and implement appropriate support programs based on student need patterns, services, or referrals.Collaborate with the Director to recruit, interview, evaluate, and select participants. This includes attendance at recruitment events, giving campus engagement tours, preparation of all academic documentation from SLATE and the Banner Student Information System, analysis, and certification of this information to help determine student eligibility for entrance into the program.Coordinate the development plan, implementation, management, and evaluation engagement and retention programs that provide both early warning and the necessary resources to foster student academic persistence and success.QualificationsMaster's degree in education, counseling, student affairs, social work, or related fields required.Two years of experience in leading recruitment and onboarding programming to support students transition to college preferred.Prior TRIO experience preferred.Knowledge and SkillsSkilled in mentoring and working directly with high school and/or college student populations.Knowledge of student advising or student programming.Skilled in student development, teaching, and counseling.Knowledge of the issues and challenges facing first-generation, low-income, students with disabilities, and underrepresented student populations in higher education.Facilitating assessments for identifying students' needs.Ability and willingness to work a varying schedule that includes some evenings and occasional weekends.Experience with Microsoft Office Word Suite.How to ApplyApplicants are encouraged to apply with a cover letter and up-to-date resume attached to the online application.
