Job Summary

The Distribution Category Manager has the primary responsibility to direct third party warehouse strategy and execution. Collaborates with business areas to identify sourcing needs and opportunities. Manages supplier relationships and agreements. Conducts continuous improvement initiatives with an emphasis on reducing total cost of ownership. Success in this position is primarily measured by cost reduction/avoidance, successful management of suppliers, the ability to work with other departments on warehousing-related projects, thus providing a high level of service to the company. They will be a strategic leader with direct oversight of all external distribution center operations, heavily involved in creating the long-term supply chain roadmap for the company. Oversight includes 19-24 Third-party Distribution Centers with an annual spend of over $25 million.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for all Warehouse 3PL supplier management; Warehouse Capacity planning, Systems, Contractual Rate negotiations, managing compliance, Invoicing, Service levels, Inventory Control, Quality Compliance, Damage & Performance reporting.

Identify 3rd party warehouse providers and negotiate contract pricing and terms. Establish SLAs with 3PLs and conduct quarterly performance reviews.

Establish, maintain, and report on supplier performance measurement reports (KPIs) for processes and activities. Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.

Monitor industry pricing and capability trends to set strategy, mitigate price increases and capitalize on decreases.

Ensure compliance of all suppliers to inventory control policies jointly established by Supply Chain-Warehousing and Finance. Review policy yearly and make suggestions for any updates as needed.

Work with suppliers and Finance to coordinate and manage schedules for cycle counts, reconciliations, and physical inventories.

Responsible for preparing, communicating, and executing of all entry/exit plans for 3PL warehouse locations.

Works cross functionally to identify cost saving opportunities.

Manage the relationship between the internal stakeholders and suppliers.

Identify, source, and lead cost savings initiatives and targets with suppliers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree preferred, with preference towards Business, Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain or Operations Management.

Minimum of 3-5 years of distribution/warehouse operations, product distribution experience, supply chain or inventory control/management in a service-driven organization.

Advance degree a plus

Experience in sourcing categories such as 3rd party services in warehousing services.

Experience working with vendors, negotiating contracts, and conducting financial analysis

Strong contract negotiation skills

Strong analytical skills with high level of organization, follow through & accuracy. Ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.

Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment

Demonstrates high level of customer service skills

Able to prioritize in complex and fast-paced environment

Able to work independently as well as across functional or matrix team structures.

Self-starter, self-motivated, driven individual.

Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong track record for execution and follow through when managing critical deadlines. Ability to work well with shifting priorities.

Knowledge of all MS Office products

Experience in SAP is an asset.
