The role of this job is to commercialize sales and marketing programs within all channels of distribution and to identify and execute channel-specific business-building opportunities; work cross functionally to deliver sales and profit results through commercialization of the overarching brand/trade strategies to the customer/channel. Will have responsibility for oversight and development of 1 direct report.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited ToChannel Strategy

Contributes and executes priorities set by VP/ DirectorRecommends and tracks success metricsDevelops, recommends, and executes channel strategyChannel Planning and Execution

Supports the annual channel management planning process relative to area of responsibilityHelps align planning process with Newell Brands and customer planning through the line review and development processUnderstands business, brand, and customer priorities and uses the planning process to find common groundRecommends priorities and drives synergies across customers and brands within area of responsibilityConduct a situation assessment, including analysis of primary and secondary data across market, shopper, and the channel / regionMakes category management recommendations to optimize performance of shelf set, such as optimal SKU assortment, merchandising and shelf/ catalog layoutSupports annual plan development and calendar of activities for channelDevelops a calendar of activities and rationale within scope of responsibilityDevelop program financial and non-financial success metrics based on previous performance. Measures progress and recommends improvementsPreparation of financial analysis to ensure plans meet financial requirementsProvides appropriate POS measurements to aid in the decision making process and analysisResponsible for merchandising execution across the channel including trade fund approvals, special packs, commercial marketing assets, and pricing executionResponsible for channel marketing strategy, creation, and execution across customers; trade funding management for the channelMarket, Shopper, and Channel / End-User Insights

Compile and analyze market, shopper / end-user, and channel knowledge gaps and creates a summary for the business to reviewManage timelines and lead deliverables for all line reviews within scope of responsibilityAnalyzes profiles of competitors and channel customers using primary and secondary research and dataGathers competitive and marketplace intelligence and share with the organization, ultimately constructing a competitive profile and comp shop analysisBrand Stewardship and Merchandising Innovation

Supports the analysis of new product launch and merchandising initiativesRecommends potential launch activation approachesManages timelines associated with implementationManages overall new product distribution filesCompletes forecast tools.Works directly with Brand Marketing on assortment within B2B verticals and recommends product strategyFinancial Management

Prepares product mix recommendationsFor the retail partner/at the customer levelFor the business profitabilityCollects and summarizes business risks and opportunitiesTracks and maintains appropriate cost center budget elements and communicate issuesEngages in S&OP process to provide input toImprove forecast accuracyRecommend ideas to reduce finished goods inventory and E&O, and identify unproductive SKU’sExecute and monitor exits and changeovers
