This position is a member of CDA’s Senior Management team. The Conservation Services Division Director (“Division Director”) represents the Colorado Department of Agriculture and its mission to advance Colorado agriculture, protect consumers and a safe food supply, and foster responsible stewardship of the environment and natural resources. It is also important that the person in this position embody CDA’s core values of respect, service, professionalism, partnership, and proactivity.Responsibilities:Leads and oversees the department’s work in climate change mitigation and resilience; soil health; renewable energy and energy efficiency; federal lands policy; and biocontrol, including oversight of CDA’s Palisade Insectary.Articulates the strategic vision of the division, develops annual goals, monitors and reports progress, and supports staff.Provides management and administrative oversight over all programs within the division.Manages the division’s budget and personnel matters, ensuring compliance with legal constraints.Represents CDA with various boards and commissions.Supports the Conservation Services team in grantmaking.Engages with state, local, federal, and tribal partners.Oversees all conservation-related cooperative agreements and advises on policy positions.Represents CDA at industry and community meetings.Works closely with CDA’s Agricultural Water Policy Advisor on water-related issues.Minimum Requirements:Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of professional experience in agribusiness, agriculture, or related fields, including:Experience in managing a regulatory program or overseeing regulatory compliance.Experience with renewable energy in agricultural settings, climate resilience, and soil health.Two (2) years of public or business administration experience.Two (2) years of supervisory experience.ORTen (10) years of relevant experience.Conditions of Employment:Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and be able to travel independently.May require working outside regular business hours.Required Competencies:Experience managing conservation programs.Knowledge of federal land use issues affecting agriculture.Excellent interpersonal communication and project management skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Important Information:
