Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of people worldwide through enduring, high-quality, cost-effective, and universally accessible public health solutions.We are looking to bring on board a State Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP) Outreach Senior Planner to assist with SNAP, SNAP Outreach, Sun Bucks, and other SNAP related program coordination activities.The successful candidate is a highly-motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently, together with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong communication, networking, and group facilitation skills are essential. This role requires the ability to handle multiple projects, responsibilities, and deadlines effectively, as well as the ability to use and incorporate data into program design.This is an exciting opportunity to help lead a program from the ground up, and to be part of a diverse team focused on growing our impact globally in the public health field.Job Duties:Coordinate efforts and oversee SNAP and SUN Bucks Outreach with contracted agencies, partnering departments, and community partners to ensure efforts are focused on defined target populations.Educate organizations that serve target populations on SNAP Outreach opportunities.Work with OFI and DHHS Division of Contract Management (DCM) team to ensure reimbursements and other contract activities.Develop flyers, social media posts, etc., and participate in SNAP related and SUN Meals events.Maintain the SNAP OFI web pages.Coordinate with other State agencies for SNAP and SUN Meals.Train OFI staff about SUN Bucks and Outreach.Oversee SNAP Application processing, including complex/special applications and requests, monitoring progress, and conducting targeted case readings.Manage Special Juvenile Immigrant Referrals and Tracking, including communications with designated attorneys to refer clients to services and tracking contacts and processed referrals.This position is supported by Maine DHHS Office of Family Independence (OFI) State Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).Job Requirements:Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills:A bachelor’s degree in social services or a similar area and four (4) years of related work experience. Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation required.The SNAP Outreach Senior Planner must understand circumstances for families in poverty, barriers they face, and social service programs available including SNAP. Having specific knowledge of OFI programs, policies, and procedures, SNAP eligibility, and the Automated Client Eligibility System (ACES) is highly desired.The candidate must have the ability to follow all Department policies and processes and interpret and apply SNAP program rules, including explaining program rules and processes to agencies and potential applicants.The SNAP Senior Planner must understand contracts and contract management.Statistical analysis skills, including the ability to compile, assess, and analyze statistical data, are essential.Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with diverse partner organizations and exercise good judgment within a context of competing priorities, agendas, and partner sensitivities.Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated cultural competence are essential.
