Position Description

The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, the Joe C. Wen School of Population and Public Health at the University of California-Irvine seeks a Jr Specialist to help with experimental procedures for graduate students and post-doctoral scholars. The candidate will not have to do their own research project.We are seeking to hire a highly motivated, dedicated individual who has excellent project management and molecular biology skills. Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, or other senior lab personnel, the incumbent may perform tasks including but not limited to:Writing/updating/distributing lab protocols, SOPs, project plans/summaries/reportsLab maintenance including ordering, supply inventory, equipment maintenance, cleaning, organizing, and managing lab spaces and materials; and performing other duties as assignedAssisting with experiments, working as part of a teamTraining students and researchers with lab techniquesManuscript and publication preparationAttending laboratory meetingsApplication Instructions:To apply, please log onto UC Irvine's online recruitment site, AP Recruit, located at:

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

(required at time of application)Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree with an emphasis in biological sciences, neuroscience, toxicology, or other related fields. Candidates should have previous experience in neurobiology or molecular biology (1-year minimum) and prior laboratory management experience is highly desired (1-year minimum). Applicants should possess solid organizational and time management skills and have the ability to work in a team environment with ever-changing priorities. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
