Successful project managers embody the following traits: good communication and management skills, well organized, great follow-up skills, logical thought process, and good analytical ability.Responsibilities:Project Management Responsibilities:Project Initiation:Coordinate with Director of Operations to establish project team and team leader.Complete project initiation documents which include budget, milestones, scheduling, and other key information needed for execution.Verify all information is inputted correctly into project management software including detailed work scope/outline, applicable building codes and owner requirements.Negotiate fees and initiate fee proposals with the finance department.Project Implementation:Conduct initial project kick-off process by coordinating schedules & organizing project information into project management software.Assist in deliverable plan reviews for completeness and make necessary review comments with design team.Conduct follow-up review of deliverable comments.Provide day-to-day communication with the design team, architect, and Owner.Act as supplemental contact for technical aspects of project with design team.Provide coordination of documents required to complete a project.Keep all deliverable dates accurate in project management software and make all schedule changes in a timely fashion so project teams can utilize their time effectively.Attend meetings with Client to coordinate schedule, scope, and budget for the project. Compile and distribute meeting notes to internal design teams in project management software.Take a lead role in conflict resolution on projects.Business/Fiscal Management Responsibilities:Track internal project cost to verify project is on time and profitable.Obtain and analyze construction cost data to facilitate proper invoicing.Assist finance department in tracking invoices with clients.Staff Development Responsibilities:Assist Director of Operations in the assessment of design staff.Be a resource for Project Managers in addressing project issues and management of clients.Relationship Building Responsibilities:Work with business development group to identify and solicit new clients.Establish in-depth relationships with existing clients to identify opportunities for growth.Set up meetings and/or participate in the development of proposals as requested.Maintain contact with clients.Meet regularly with key clients to discuss current projects, evaluate firm performance, and identify other business opportunities either with current clients, or through referrals.Develop firm staff through on-the-job coaching and regular use of significant incidents, project review forms and personal development plan discussions.Other duties assigned.Education/Requirements:B.S. in engineering, or a related field, or equivalent project management and design experienceProject Management WorkshopsProfessional Liability Prevention WorkshopsWork from home policyFlexible work schedule that allows for half-day FridaysGenerous Paid Time Off policySeven Paid Time holidaysEmployer paid Medical and Dental plan for employees and partial paid Medical plan for dependents.Optional supplemental plans include Vision, Accident & Wellness, and Cancer policies.Enhanced matching 401(k) plan.
