Job DescriptionAECOM is actively seeking a talented, experienced,
Senior Environmental Program Manager
with a focus on
Remediation Construction Management (RCM)
for immediate employment for our West Region Environment Federal Remediation Practice. This position can be a Remote role, supporting all locations throughout the business.

In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of projects to confirm alignment effectively with AECOM’s mission and the goals of the program. The main duties include organizing various programs and activities to improve company efficiencies, building long-term goals for company projects, and developing program and project budgets.
Primary responsibilities and key characteristics of the role also include, but are not limited to:
Overseeing a portfolio of large-scale, at-risk RCM projects totaling $50+M annually
Actively responsible for the planning, safe execution, and delivery of a portfolio of RCM projects at As Sold or better financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Providing support to Project Managers (PM) by:
Fully understanding applicable contracts
Leading Project Reviews
Conducting Site Visits
Engaging Project Team at critical milestones
Change Management and dispute resolution
Engaging Client and Project Stakeholders
Communicating to AECOM Business Line (BL) Leadership
Early identification of change conditions through financial tracking resulting in implementing mitigation plans if applicable, engaging Department Managers (DMs), Portfolio Delivery Leaders (PDLs), Project Controllers (PCs), and other delivery staff
Driving business development (BD) and developing pursuits
Focusing on activities and sales within a range of $100M - $125M GR of pursuit/project development annually, implementing strategic growth initiatives, formulating approach, and identifying key personnel to lead the large pursuits for a diverse environmental consulting business
This opportunity is best suited for a person with a natural drive, ability to communicate with various levels of stakeholders, both internally and externally, someone who enjoys speaking with clients and building relationships, a team player who understands environmental consulting, in particular remediation construction management, interest in sales, and has a proven track record in growing accounts by selling professional services.
You will work in a supportive environment under the direction of the Remediation Construction Management Technical Practice Leader with various responsibilities, including the following:
Knowledge of the Role:
Analyzes and manages complex and difficult project challenges
Conceives, plans and conducts consultation in areas of considerable scope and complexity
Directs and leads strategy to address very complex technical projects
Plans and develops segments of projects with unique or controversial problems that require development of novel concepts and approaches
Applies senior level of expertise, knowledge and judgement
Senior technical lead for technically complex and unique projects
Manages an array of highly complex projects in multiple locations
Technical Excellence Alignment:
Externally recognized as a national expert in Remediation Construction Management
Engages with project technical teams within field of expertise to confirm project approach and review deliverables
Regularly reviews/audits projects to confirm appropriate technical quality activities are implemented to prevent rework and legal claims
Performs independent expert reviews of high-risk project (C0/C1) proposals and deliverables
Leadership Capabilities:
Accountable to achieve annual/quarterly results against targets
Broad latitude in making decisions guided by organizational strategy
Receives guidance and direction from senior members of leadership
Trains, mentors, motivates, and evaluates less experienced staff
Delivers effective management communication and directs active communication engagement by subordinates
Contributes by driving the success of a large business segment, technical discipline or client program
Contributes by advancing their area of the business in light of industry and market trends and delivering improved results
Collaborates with client and business managers to promote technical services
Demonstrates leadership attributes that help drive the success of the business
Leads teams to develop multidisciplinary technical strategy for large and complex proposals
Demonstrates leadership attributes that provide a role model for others
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
BA/BS engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field
10 years of experience in project and program management in environmental remediation to include 2 years of leadership experience or demonstrated equivalency or experience and/or education
US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
Valid Driver’s License, Subject to Motor Vehicle Records check
Preferred Qualifications
Ideally 20 + years of federal remediation experience
10+ years of experience managing at risk projects with evidence of majority being $5+M scale projects
Experience leading portfolio of remediation projects with a GR per year of $50M or more
Experience with multiple types of contracts – Fixed-Price, Fixed Unit Rates, Cost-Reimbursable, Performance-Based, Target-Price with Incentive, etc.
Experience with various delivery methods – Contractor/GC, CM at Risk, Design-Build/EPC, etc.
Experience in developing projects and pursuits similar to above
US Government focus with Federal remediation experience in the northeast US
Respected leader in Federal Environmental remediation programs.
Broad knowledge of and experience in environmental remediation work in EPA and various DOD markets including U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force, and Navy.
Demonstrated success at building relationships with clients
Excellent communicator and team player
Experience in using large data platforms (i.e., Salesforce) is preferred
PE or PG license in respective state/states
PMP certification
MBA
