Position Summary:
The Purchasing/Planning Manager position is responsible for all aspects of Planning including oversight of SIOP process, demand planning, and production planning. The role is also responsible for planning and coordinating all procurement activities to support our Eden Prairie manufacturing facilities. The Purchasing/Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of buyers and planners in their daily activities along with developing purchasing and planning strategies to meet the company’s short-term and long-term requirements.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Planning
Develop, lead, and execute Bracco Medical Technologies Sales & Operations Planning processes
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Forecast and Monitor demand signals, communicating with sales leadership on performance
Drive Data integrity to optimize processes and maintain predictability
Purchasing
Develop, lead and execute Bracco Medical Technologies purchasing strategies for procurement activities to support Eden Prairie Capital Equipment Manufacturing
Determine quantity and timing of deliveries to minimize risk to manufacturing requirements while maintaining working capital metrics
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Assess, manage, and mitigate risk with the supply chain
Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers, build and maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers
Craft and negotiate contracts on behalf of the company
Cooperate with Warehouse, Production, and Operations for material management
Collaborate with suppliers on vendor issues and aiding in the implementation of preventative/corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Monitor and track performance of suppliers
Support non-inventory purchasing for the entire BMT organization ensuring effective procurement processes and support structure
Leadership
Hire and train staff
Evaluate and develop staff performance via BMT talent development process
Identify problems and implement solutions to improve processes
Lead special projects related to product launches, line extensions, and various supply chain initiatives
Effectively communicate with all stakeholders both internally and externally
Required Skills
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or Management
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a purchasing or planning role
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a high technology manufacturing operation
Demonstrated strong systems and business process knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills with ability to solve complex problems
Knowledge of FDA & ISO requirements
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain business partner relationships across all levels both within and outside of the organization
Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change both internally and externally
Demonstrated Leadership skills
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time
Preferred:
2+ years prior leadership experience
7-10 years’ experience in a purchasing or planning role with a medical device manufacturing company
5+ years SAP experience
ISM or APICS Certified
Contract negotiation knowledge and experience
Lean/Continuous Improvement knowledge and experience
