Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for a motivated Department Manager to perform duties in support of the direction and vision of the transportation group. Expand CED's Highway and Bridge services into clients such as TxDOT and municipal government. Oversee, direct, and manage the work effort of assigned staff.

Our team of experts has completed projects in both urban and rural settings, ranging from minor geometric upgrades to billion dollar corridor improvements. We provide roadway and bridge design services throughout the United States with projects ranging from simple intersection improvements to large scale corridor projects including complex interchanges and system-to-system connecting interchanges. Our team specializes in high end modeling, design, and analysis of our country's infrastructure and we are looking for your help to expand this expertise into Texas.

Responsibilities

Reviews and manages operations to ensure the quality of the technical products.Establishes effective long-range objectives, goals, and plans for assigned team.Provides technical and management leadership to the assigned team.Develops and executes marketing program in conjunction with discipline goals.Advises and assists professionals in other groups when expert knowledge and expertise is required.Manages activities so an adequate profit is earned on all projects.Reviews monthly productivity and labor hour utilization rates, reports and makes adjustments as needed.Assigns projects to staff and schedules work.Evaluates employee performance in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field.10+ years of experience in related field.TxDOT related work experience preferred.Texas Professional licensure in area of expertise.Skills/Abilities:Demonstrated effective leadership across groups of employees.Capable of business development with clients not familiar with the firm.Capable of building/hiring effective teams.Excellent communication skills.Strategic thinking.Effective delegation skills.Collaboration.Ability to hold others accountable.Additionally, the successful candidate should possess the following certifications, skills, abilities, and competencies:Technical Knowledge/Expertise - Continually learn and apply applicable standards, procedures, trends, technology, and criteria to successfully perform the functional responsibilities of the position.Relationship Management - Possess and demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships which support the success of the Company.Business Acumen - Knowledgeable in best practices, trends, information, and other influences that affect CED and the environment in which we work, to maintain our position as an industry leader.Communication - Possess and demonstrate the ability, skills, and initiative to exchange information effectively and efficiently.Program and Project Management - Possess and demonstrate the ability to lead effectively and efficiently, plan, organize and manage procedures, protocols and/or staff to achieve the desired results of specific projects and/or programs.Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
