We’re looking for a

Principal Design Operations Manager

to join our creative operations team, provide discipline leadership, and enable design and research at scale. We’re looking for an individual who can balance their proven track record, with a lens and appetite for uncovering and advocating new approaches to design operations. This role reports to the Chief of Staff and will work across the breadth of Studio W, collaborate with engineering and product management leaders, and build relationships with design operations professionals across the company. Responsibilities

Enable the creative ops discipline and organization, including leading best practices and standardization across people/culture, product & craft, and processes & tools.Provide oversight and leadership of studio-wide practices for design processes, planning, capacity strategy and management, tooling, communications, and measurement.Partner with VP and Partner Studio W leadership to ensure focus on highest priorities, enable decision-making, and build clarity within and outside of Studio W.Build cross discipline relationships to enable product outcomes and design priorities.Collaborate with cross discipline partners, including product designers, product managers, engineers and others, to identify opportunities, understand program scope and execution requirements and influence teams.Act as a strategic partner to design leadership on large, complex product and organizational and design challenges.Define success criteria and metrics with partners to track impact and drive improvements within a program, project or process.Prioritize the highest impact work and guide its execution, ensuring short- and long-term needs are addressed.Be accountable for managing dependencies, risks and changes by leveraging technical design domain expertise and influence to optimize scope, schedule, and resources effectively.Embody our culture and values.Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 6+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvementOR equivalent experience.4+ years management (e.g., people, project, process, vendor, change) experience.Preferred Qualifications

Experience in retaining and fostering a healthy ecosystem for the Creative Ops and Design disciplines.Experience working directly with cross-functional leaders and building programs for product designers, user experience researchers and content designers.Experience in developing design standards and design operations.Project management skills and track record of simultaneously leading multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Proven effectiveness driving complex processes and cross-team initiatives.Business Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 - $213,200 per year.Microsoft will accept applications for the role until April 10, 2024.Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
