Job DescriptionSUMMARYThe Development Specialist coordinates and implements parts development, maintains supplier relationships, participates in audits, provides reports to management, and performs research and cost analysis to select appropriate suppliers of automotive parts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
Coordinate parts development and implementation
Develop detailed project plans, tactical execution, schedules, and cost estimates for assigned projects
Provide Management overview and report on critical project tasks
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, as well as internal and external customers including Sales Managers, to ensure on-time results
Communicate regularly with upper management including Headquarters regarding status of current projects
Conduct Value Engineering analysis for possible cost savings by evaluating production methods and materials
Review and approve suppliers’ Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR) and audit new program suppliers
Make suggestions for Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for cost reduction, quality improvement, and lean production
Review Process Sign-Off (PSO) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) for assigned projects
Review legal documentation such as Requests for Quotes (RFQs), Letters of Intent (LOIs), terms and conditions, and develop documentation according to Mobis policy
Perform part characteristic analysis and risk analysis, and create Procurement policies
Review supplier requirements, release quotations, and perform quotation analysis
Research and secure potential suppliers
Perform cost analysis for parts, tooling, and other supplier expenses; negotiate prices with suppliers
Create detailed price breakdown for each product by analyzing the piece price and breaking the price down into its categories (e.g. material, labor and burden, etc.)
Comply with and promote safety in the workplace

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
(The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities desired for this position.)
Education & Experience:
• Associate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field plus 3 years of experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management
• OR
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and technical skills
Preferred Education & Experience:
• Experience in automotive manufacturing environment
• Experience in reviewing commercial legal documentation (LOIs, RFQs, etc.)
• Ability to understand 2D/3D drawings and knowledge of design tools
• SAP experience
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
None
Working Conditions:
• Office setting, some walking within and between buildings
• Overtime as needed
• Frequent travel with possible overnight or extended stays
• Working in all Procurement work groups if needed
