Custodial Building Supervisor I, Custodial/Recycling Services, Monday- Friday 6:

DescriptionThis 1st shift custodial supervisor/recycle supervisor position is responsible for providing and maintaining clean campus facilities. Responsibilities include the supervision of 1st shift custodians within this crew cleaning (Clement Hall). Inspecting the quality of work of these employees, unlocking some campus buildings, ordering and maintaining custodial supplies for buildings in this area of responsibility, transporting equipment, washing dust mops, some pest control, floor maintenance including stripping and waxing floors, extracting carpets, and training new employees. This position also supervises fogging for COVID in some buildings, as well as training other employees in proper and safe use of the fogging equipment. This position is also responsible for the recycling center on campus, picking up the recycle bins and collecting recyclables from all the buildings on campus. Responsible for the weekend crew and the cleaning schedule for Athletics and student events on campus. This position must also have strong computer skills to ensure all custodians and recycle aides complete their online testing in a timely manner. Responsible for all the weights of recyclables leaving the recycle center for the Annual report every year. Must be able to operate heavy equipment such as bobcats and tractors. Responsible for training other full-time recycling aides to help operate the bobcat safely. Responsible for emergencies on campus.This is a working supervisory position cleaning buildings to APPA level 3.Supervision of a crew of custodians/recycle staff:

Schedule/prioritize work tasks for 1st shift employeesInspect employees' work for quality, efficiency, and accountabilityInvolved in work-related issues with custodians/recycle staff for verbal and written warnings with the supervisor of the shiftConduct staff performance reviews annuallyOccasionally transport equipment between buildingsSupervise the fogging for COVID in classrooms and public areas of some buildingsHelp train new employees on proper use of cleaning chemicals and how to operate custodial equipment, how to strip and wax floors, extract carpets, and perform floor maintenance. Have pre-shift meetings with staff to discuss additional duties.Help ensure that the staff has completed all testing on time.Supervision and training of custodial crews:

Pull trash and clean whiteboards in all classroomsClean bathroom fixtures, toilets/urinals, sinks, mirrors, floors, and partitions. Deep clean bi-annually or during breaks (fall and spring or summer)Change light bulbs as needed in buildingsTrain custodians in light bulb changing and ladder safetyThe custodial supervisor also performs all of these dutiesClean to APPA level 3 pushing level 2 cleanlinessSupervision of recycling center staff:

Schedule and prioritize work schedules for recycle assistants and student workersResponsible for the weekends and must work weekends if ever neededRun the recycle routes on campus, pick up and distribute blue bins and lock binsWork with community members when recyclables are brought in and explain what we take and what we don't in a civil professional mannerTrain new employees, students, and community service personnel to safely perform work within the recycle centerResponsible for all the supplies and PPE in the recycling centerMust be able to operate heavy equipment such as Bobcat to load recyclables onto the semi-trailer, tractor, and custodial cleaning equipmentResponsible for keeping the records of the weights of all recyclables that go out the doorEmergencies on campus:

Must work water intrusions in buildings on campus at any time 7 days a weekMust work snow days when needed on campus clearing sidewalks and building entrancesManage inventory of custodial supplies for crew:

Place requests for needed supplies and disperse to buildings as neededMake recommendations for equipment and supplies purchasesSupervision of custodial crew during and after special events:

Responsible for cleaning up after many campus events such as ballgames that end at nightResponsible for working on snow days to clear the entrances to the academic buildings on campusResponsible for working when water infiltrates buildings on campus at any time or any day
