Area of Responsibility:The Quality Control (QC) Lab Support focuses on activities that support laboratory analysis. They are primarily responsible for maintaining the laboratory by directly performing analysis support functions. In addition, they perform analysis and review of incoming goods. This position directly reports to the Quality Control Supervisor.This position is an entry level position. A basic understanding of laboratory etiquette, laboratory safety, analytical equipment and chemical competency is required. This position will offer a deeper understanding of analytical equipment, and principals such as HPLCs, Spectrophotometers, DNA Synthesizers, Titration, and much more.Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:Provide support to the Quality Control process and to Quality Control personnel by:

Stocking of lab supplies and buffersArchiving Retain samplesCleaningInstrument maintenanceHazardous waste handlingHelp lab maintain 5S standards of cleanliness and organization

Be self-motivated and have the ability to communicate and coordinate with colleagues.Performing general laboratory maintenance and upkeep activities (e.g., loading buffers onto instruments, cleaning of the laboratory).Labelling products and incoming goods with an appropriate status label after product disposition (e.g., Approved, Rejected).Interacting directly with the Manager of QC Chemistry to understand testing prioritization and obtain daily assignments.Performing standard laboratory operations, including but not limited to: dispensing chemicals, performing volumetric and gravimetric measurements, performing dilutions and preparing solutions for use in the QC Chemistry Lab.Assisting in verifying and documenting Quality Control activities and procedures.Effectively communicate with Quality Control leadership regarding required deadlines of product requests for customers or internal orders.Effectively communicate and coordinate with internal suppliers, team members, and QC leadership to assure the most efficient use of time and resources.Effectively communicate with maintenance staff to ensure equipment is functional and available for use.Execute on objectives and goals to support a positive, efficient, and motivated team.Make recommendations to management as necessary regarding resources required to meet QC objectives, including equipment, employees, and space allocation.Maintain a safe, organized, and clean lab space.Perform routine maintenance on process equipment and workspace.Follows all guidelines/policies for safety (e.g. wears PPE).Has consistent and proper documentation practices in accordance with QA standards.Is self-sufficient and has strong time management skills; takes initiative.Can take out solvent and aqueous waste as well as lab debris if necessary.Qualifications

Education/Experience/Licenses/CertificationsThis position requires a High School Diploma, or equivalent.A minimum of 2 years work experience in a professional setting.Demonstrates proficiency to meet the requirements of a QC Lab Support.PreferredA minimum of 1 years of hands-on QC experience.A minimum of 1 years of highly accurate and successful GDPs in a regulated environment.Demonstrate proficiency to meet the requirements of a Quality Control Lab Support.Resonates and operates in line with LGC’s core value behaviours: Respect, Integrity, Passion, Curiosity, and Brilliance.Technical proficiency that enables effective understanding of the established process.Professional presence and strong attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.An understanding of laboratory safety, chemical safety, and general safety practices.Must possess problem solving and critical thinking skills.Independent thinker with ability to troubleshoot day-to-day events and plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.Multi-tasker.Flexible and proactive.Demonstrate experience with common computer software packages (Windows, MS Office, etc.).Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
