OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Manage daily news coverage for television, digital and social platformsMotivate and coach news team for creative storytelling and showcasingRespond quickly to breaking news with coverage on all platformsEnsure accuracy of news broadcasts and digital/social contentReview reporter scriptsProvide regular feedback for news team membersSupport VP/News on hiring and employee relations issues as well as annual performance appraisal processPrepare schedules and handle vacation requestsIdentify social media opportunities to increase digital and social metricsOversee content on mobile and connected TV appEnsure effective communication with digital producersDemonstrate strong editorial judgmentManage big event coverage and specials/enterprise storiesAdhere to all professional broadcast journalism and online journalism standards in regard to legal and ethical issuesWork with management team to ensure accountability and efficiency among those they superviseWork with station attorney on legal mattersWork with staff to reinforce station brandsServe as a liaison with other departments in station projects and marketing campaignsComply with all Station and Department policies, procedures and guidelinesOther duties as assigned

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Regularly stand; walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS:Previous broadcast news management experience

EDUCATION:College degree preferred in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism or communications

OTHER:Outstanding storytelling and people skills. Strong leadership abilities and detail oriented.
