The Big Picture: What will you be doing?Partner with Mortenson leadership to stand up and accelerate an exciting, new

function.Work with Mortenson subject matter experts and functional analysts to analyze internal enterprise data, coupling statistical methods and data science to translate Mortenson’s core data into actionable business insights and predictive models.Establish best practices – including systems and processes – for performing, interpreting, and communicating the results of data science efforts.Participate in Information Governance Committee with other key business constituents, helping to guide and continue to advance the Company’s recently implemented data warehouse.Cultivate a “Community of Practice” for Data Science across Mortenson – connecting centralized DA&I team with Data Analysts embedded in business lines to lead advancement of this competency across Mortenson.We are seeking a seasoned professional who:Has experience creating and standing up a Data Analytics & Insights function (or similar) as described above.Genuinely enjoys and has proven success with direct people management & development, partnering with other leaders to develop a talent pipeline of high-potential, high-performing team members.Is an enthusiastic & perpetual learner; eager to learn & absorb, equally eager to teach so that others can do the same.Is highly analytical, displaying an innate curiosity to understand and communicate the context for what we do and why we do it.Has developed strong business and quantitative acumen, with an ability to take complex statistical output and translate it to actionable insights for business leaders.Builds genuine relationships and communicates effectively to people at all levels and areas of the organization, regardless of their technical acumen.Embraces ambiguity, taking complex business problems and developing new analytics that address these issues with limited direction or requirements.Takes great pride in the quality and visual representation of their work product.Has exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to tailor presentation styles to different end audiences.Has a strong, self-motivated work ethic, willing to roll their sleeves up to show and tell, as needed.Is a strategic, entrepreneurial thinker – someone who is motivated by challenging, thought-provoking work and an opportunity to build something new.Can distinguish between descriptive and predictive analytics, with proven success utilizing both to inform and influence business outcomes.Champions process improvement, consistently identifying opportunities to streamline and innovate.Is driven by professional values that exemplify Mortenson’s values of teamwork, responsibility, safety, service, and stewardship.Is a humble leader, quietly confident in their experience & intellect, but open to new, diverse ideas & perspectives.Qualifications

What do you need?A minimum of eight years of related, progressive experience in professional roles, including experience directly managing team members.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related field – or equivalent experience.Significant experience with standard programming language(s) such as SQL, C, C++, Python or Java.Significant experience with analytics and visualization tools such as SAS, R, and/or PowerBI.Experience presenting and communicating directly with executive leadership teams.Mortenson is an EEO/Affirmative Action/M/F/Veteran/Disabled employer.
