The City of Louisville is looking for a Planner II or Senior Planner to join asmall team and work on a range of assignments with an emphasis on historicpreservation. The Planner II or Senior Planner is responsible for themanagement of the City's historic preservation program, conductingdevelopment review, and managing or supporting other special projects at animportant and exciting time in the community's history. The City'shistoric preservation program is highly valued and well-resourced with aninnovative, incentives-based system. Several infill projects are underwaythat will create vibrant new places. The City is currently updating itsComprehensive Plan and has several policy and regulatory projects planned orunderway addressing topics like housing affordability and community design.This position is a unique opportunity to grow your planning career in a placethat highly values planning.Historic Preservation Responsibilities are typically about of thisposition's time and include but are not limited to:Administering or updating the City's Historic Preservation Master Plan andFund,Conducting specialized studies on historic preservation,Supporting the City's Historic Preservation Commission as the staff liaison,Managing requests for landmark designation and historic preservation grantsand loans,Evaluating building permits and land use applications for compliance with theCity's Old Town and Downtown standards.General Planning Responsibilities are typically the other of thisposition's time and include but are not limited to:Managing development applications outside of the Old Town and Downtown areasincluding land use cases and building permits,Supporting or managing special planning projects like zoning code amendmentsand parts of the Comprehensive Plan update,Preparing staff reports and presentations to the City's Planning Commissionand City Council, andResponding to general planning inquiries from other City staff and the public.Assignments are carried out in accordance with general and specific workinstructions and in accordance with professional knowledge of the theories,principles, and practices that are applicable to historic preservation,urban planning, urban design, land use law, and effective public outreach.This position may be hired at the Planner II or Senior Planner level dependingon qualifications at the discretion of Human Resources and the Hiring Manager.This position reports to the Planning Manager.Planner II LevelThe Planner II level requires a master's degree in city or regionalplanning, architecture, historic preservation, or other closely relatedfield and typically two to three years of experience preferably in a municipalsetting or a bachelor's degree and minimum of three to four years ofexperiencePlanner II Hiring Range: $69,700 - $94,099Senior Planner LevelThe Senior Planner level requires a master's degree in city or regionalplanning, architecture, historic preservation, or other closely relatedfield and four or more years' experience preferably in a municipal settingor a bachelor's degree and six or more years of experience and exercisesmore independent project management.Senior Planner Hiring Range: $84,344 - $113,859The City of Louisville offers the following benefits for all Tier 1positions:Medical, Dental, and Vision BenefitsFlexible Spending Accounts / Health Savings Account Short and Long TermDisabilityEmployee Assistance ProgramBasic Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment Tuition AssistanceLearning & Development Opportunities Wellness ProgramRecreation Center PassRetirement Plan 401(a) with employer matchPaid time off including vacation, sick and 12 holidays
