Job Description

Contract roles are geared toward independent professionals interested in temporary or project-based work.

The expected compensation range for this contract is $249k to $270k per year. The exact pay rate will vary depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to skills, experience, and location.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide consultative enterprise architecture services to both agile and waterfall-oriented product teams.

Understand architecture domains (business, information, application, technology, etc.) and apply concepts from those domains to product teams.

Provide leadership in defining the product strategy in collaboration with product stakeholders.

Support distributed architecture decision making through regular consultation with product teams.

Work with enterprise and business architects to document the business architecture that the product supports.

Collaborate with product owners to create a product strategy and participate in roadmap creation.

Define and maintain the high-level target product architecture.

Support product teams to integrate technology innovation.

Identify critical architecture decisions that require alignment to enterprise architectures.

Coach and mentor product team members on product-related architecture thinking.

Work with product teams to identify needed capabilities and features.

Coordinate with enterprise architects to prioritize development of needed enterprise enablers.

Contribute principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to the minimum viable architecture (MVA).

Escalate product architecture decisions that are not compliant with MVA.

Coordinate dependencies and shared capabilities across product lines.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Power Engineering, or related technical major/ discipline.

Seven (7) years of combined experience within information technology, operations, engineering, enterprise architecture, application development, and/or technical related field.

Five (5) years of hands-on product or project development activities including knowledge of standard System Development Lifecycle models.

Experience with work products delivered in large enterprise systems.

Collaboration with senior management, executives, and other stakeholders.

Creation of high-quality presentations, proposals, statements of work, and assessment deliverables.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

In-depth understanding of complex computer network and process control designs.

Broad and in-depth technical understanding of process automation and industrial field protocols.

Background in safety instrumented systems for an industrial solution environment.

Master’s degree in computer science or related field preferred.

TOGAF certification or other enterprise architecture standards preferred.

PMP certification preferred.

Experience with electric utility business processes preferred.

Knowledge of control systems, communication networks, and cybersecurity technologies preferred.

Familiarity with Agile methodology, DevOps, and CI/CD preferred.

Understanding of microservices-based architecture preferred.

Ability to understand and explain electric utility single line diagrams preferred.

Ability to understand the long-term and short-term perspectives of situations.
