Salary Range : UndisclosedTitle of Position : Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)Location : Gateways Inpatient- Main Hospital/On-siteExempt/Non-Exempt : Per Diem- mostly weekend coverageUnion/ Non-Union : Non-UnionSupervisor : Meredith Mead MSN, PMHNP-BCGateways Hospital and Mental Health Center , located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55)-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.SUMMARY OF POSITION:The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for completing assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of both chronic and episodic disorders to assigned clients (adult and adolescent population); plans, implements, reviews, and confirms health care goals for assigned clients; remains responsible for the client(s) throughout the course of the treatment; determines when the client has recovered, and recommends release of the client. As appropriate, refer the client to physicians for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment but retains responsibility for clinical management as well as any subsequent modification; may also review use and effects of psychotropic drugs and other medications as well as the characteristics of mental and emotional disorders. Ongoing collaboration with treatment team to assure effective communication and treatment goal implementation.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illnesses for adult and adolescent populationPrescribe/Titrate/Manage all necessary medications and treatmentsPerform comprehensive psychiatric assessments/examinations/follow-up care of patientsDevelop and implement patient management policies and proceduresFacilitate referrals to other psychiatric professionals and medical facilitiesCommunicate with collaborating psychiatrist or specialist regarding patient careInvolve staff in psychiatric interventions, gathering information from them and discussing the limitations and abilities of the participantProvide crisis intervention as neededProvide other psychiatric services required by the target populationParticipate in Treatment Planning MeetingsParticipate in Quality Improvement initiativesAttend all education and training requirementsProvide coverage as neededEDUCATION & CERTIFICATES:Have the appropriate license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner including DEA license and Malpractice InsuranceDesired Education:Graduate from an accredited nursing school with an advanced degree for Psychiatric NurseMinimum Certification / Licensure Required:Registered with the Board of NursingEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:Previous experience in psychiatric field

Ability to build rapport with patientsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong leadership qualitiesAbility to work in a community-based settingREQUIREMENTS:Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.Valid California Drivers license.TB clearance.Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.Fire and Safety Training*.First Aid Training Certification*.CPR Certification*.Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI)***Note: If indicated certifications/licenses are lacking, they must be obtained within 180 days of hire.**Training needs to be completed within 30 days from the date of hire on a designated date provided by onboarding. Staff need to be certified at the commensurate level for their role to perform their job duties (staff will be taken off the schedule if certification is not achieved).PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job you must be able to carry out all essential functions successfully.
