Why this job matters:

Identify market opportunities, evaluate product concepts, create proposals, and lead key product development projects and initiatives from concept through launch. Work closely with sales, clinical, corporate strategy, actuarial, underwriting, and consultants, and to monitor external trends. Monitor employer portfolio profitability and performance to deliver recommendations for strategic consideration.

What you will do:

Conduct market analysis to identify client and member needs to maintain and strengthen product portfolio strength. Leverage trends and research to influence segment and product strategies.Develop sound business proposals and product pipeline that include: costs of the solution, target markets, and expected return on investment. Effectively sell business proposals to various levels of management throughout the organizations.Oversee new initiatives through the product life cycle. This includes design, launch, implementation and ongoing product management. Monitor profitability of assigned customer segment(s) and adjust segment strategies to ensure segment and corporate financial performance targets are met.Lead annual portfolio implementation project to implement portfolio changes.Produce performance reporting for sales and external business partners.Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

Three to five years’ experience in strategy development, product development, product management, or sales.Proven experience interpreting industry trends and customer needs to identify and build new product offerings.Experience with developing product performance metrics.Strong growth orientation and "sales" mindset.Ability to structure and manage substantial projects / initiatives.Complete familiarity with product management life cycle and associated concepts regarding analytics, communications and product design.Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets.Good business acumen and political savvy.Knowledge of business process improvement techniques and strategies.Excellent verbal and written communications skills.Negotiation skills.Presentation skills.Decision-making skills.Good problem solving skills.Ability to interface with employees at all levels.Ability to effectively navigate ambiguous situations with limited direction.Excellent organizational skills and ability to successfully prioritize multiple tasks.Ability to handle multiple priorities/projects.

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week.
