Summary:The Senior Project Manager for AV and Education Technologies will contribute to the project management discipline for HMS IT's digital transformation, focusing on AV (Audio Visual) and teaching and learning technologies. Reporting to the Program Manager for Digital Transformation, this role is responsible for guiding and planning for the success of technology projects from inception through project completion. The Sr. Project Manager will be assigned to one or more highly complex technology projects or programs that span multiple functional areas and technology units within HMS and the IT Department. This role will leverage experience successfully managing enterprise-wide, cross-functional IT hardware and software implementations that involve AV equipment, transactional systems, networking, systems integration, project communications, and multi-faceted stakeholder engagement.

The Sr. Project Manager will seek out and coordinate with IT and business leaders, technical product owners, other project managers, business analysts, SMEs, and stakeholders to ensure projects are planned for a successful transition to production support, and to improve the maturity of the IT Project Management processes and toolsets for enhanced collaboration across IT and HMS. The Sr. Project Manager will leverage hybrid, agile, or waterfall methodologies as appropriate.

Core Duties

Lead projects from project inception to completion, managing the orderly progression of projects from the discovery and design stages through project completionCollaborate with stakeholders and technologists to define project scope, outcomes, requirements, budget, schedule, and resourcesDevelop actionable project plans and project artifacts; identify, manage, and escalate, as appropriate, project risks, issues, and roadblocksResponsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of projectServe as expert regarding scope and project objectives, solution value and technology, and the role and function of each team memberLead change, acting as change agent to inspire a shared purpose of intent, drive project awareness, and ensure effective transition into operations; Provide training to clients/staff as neededEnsure work completion within schedule, budgetary, and design constraintsMake decisions about analysis, design and testing, and solve complex technical problemsWork collaboratively with colleagues to leverage resources for successful project completionMake independent decisions within the confines established by sponsors/business ownersDevelop and implement project communications framework to ensure well-informed stakeholders, end users, and technical staffServe as the primary contact with user groups and stakeholdersLeverage steering and executive committees for decision-making, change management, and communicationsbsorb and leverage project related technology to ensure effective project management and collaborationdvise unit/school regarding post-project operationspply Harvard University's IT technical standards and best practicesbide by and follow the Harvard University IT Code of Conduct

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of five years' post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience
